Default Whoops!

I was rooting through some photos the other day and I happened across this, so I thought I'd post it up:

Taken on 13th April 2003, near Basra.

Considering these hydraulic rams can drag 25 tonnes off the ground, that bend took some doing.

Extremely belated thanks to 3 Bn REME for fixing it.

(Excuse the poor quality, but it's a normal photo that's been scanned.)

Nice pictures there m8.

My brother was out there (Logistics) got shot at few times, nasty stuff wouldnt like to be in your shoes. He said the heat was a killer when gas alerts went off and had to suit up.

An experience none the less.

Over 2 stone in 3 months. Put some of that back on though.

A combination of army rations, no booze and lots of heavy exercise in extreme temperatures. Not a diet I can recommend.

Tell me about it! I frequently spent several hours in full protective gear with temperatures in the 40's. Not nice. By the time I left, the temperature was around 50 degrees during the day. Fecking unbearable.

Ah yes, a nice squaddie tan. If I took my shirt off I looked like I was wearing a white t-shirt. Not much opportunity for sun bathing.

Just a tad. In the first one I had no idea what to expect, just that I was going to war. In the second one I knew I was shortly going home.

Engineers indeed. I was with 64 (HQ) Sqn, 28 Engr Regt. Although I was only with them in Iraq. In the UK I was in an independant topo sqn.
