My94 Wrx. Ideas for mods please!!
This is my Wrx on a sandy beach in the sunny Isle of Man!!
Not long had it so put down your ideas about what i should do to her please.
Ive already debadged the backend and added clear Lexus style lights.
As there is so many things out there to buy i was hoping that agony Aunt Scoobynet could help.

What do you want to do? cosmetic changes? power changes?
If cosmetic, then maybe pimp tints, what about clear/crystal side and front indicators with silver bulbs. Could do a morette quad headlamp conversions too.
Maybe some 17 or 18 inch wheels.
As for power, well, depends what you want, could get a decat exhaust, induction kit, uprated brakes and suspension. ooh, I'd recommend powerstations bumpsteer mod, that'll help with the handling.

If you are going cosmetic then I definately recommend the colour coding of the side skirts and the door handles. I haven't had the door handles done yet but here's a pic of my silver scooby with the skirts done to give you an idea. Also mine has clear indicators and side repeaters a must on a silver car in my opinion.

After that if you want to go the popular route you would add a front lip spoiler and either an STi 5 or 6 rear wing. Depends how individual you want to be. Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with going down the lines I've just set out because your car will look great.
Scooby monster - The 'things' you refer to on the skirts and bumpers are splash guards. Expensive as genuine articles but as recommended to me by Scoty....
Derek at ETS now does copies of them for £75 (genuine approx £300 - £400)

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tips.
Sorry, yeah i am mainly interested in cosmetic mods. Quite happy with the performance at the mo. Already has an induction and de-cat exhaust. All though it will need replacing very soon. I also have just purchased some 18's for it. Vortex Manias, not sure how they will look when on the car though.
Wrx Kid,
Yeah i bought it from him a few months ago. Havnt had any problems with it so far. Just need to do a couple of things to the exterior before i will be completeley happy with it.
Why do you ask?
DaveFaulder,
thanks for the hints mate, your's looks very nice. I must get the sills done asap!! Did you get yours done profesionally or DIY?? how much did it cost you?
The link for the parts is great. Cheers...
Matt....maybe the other few thousand Scooby owners should put there Tango lights back on too. In the meen time i am quite happy with my cheap Lexus ones as they look better than the Daiwoo replicas.
Maybe im wrong but i think they look ok on silver Scooby's??

Only asking Wrx Iom coz I had a look at your Scooby before I got my first one, it was a while ago now, Barry Curran Motors had it then, and Paul at Castle Cars is a mate of mine who offered it to me before the one i've got now, its in mint condition for a 1994 model, make sure to keep it that way eh?

The previous owner who is one of my friends had the spray work was done at a bodyshop. On my car the wing mirrors and the skirts were both done. It's a shame he didn't get the door handles done as well but I'll get round to it. As far as I'm aware spraying plastic trim that isn't normally colour coded requires plastic primer and if it isn't done right the paint flakes off easily. I might be being over cautious here but depending on your level of skill maybe it should be a job for a professional sprayer. I'm sure it cost less than £100 to get it all done.
I think that the chrome lexus back lights look ok on silver impreza's. A cheaper alternative to the only other thing worth having which is clear and red STi lights which are about £300 a pair.

Yeah i do believe it came to the Island via Jap Imports and then Barry's.
It does need some work done on it i think though. All in good time.
I will try and look after her the best i can. Just had it serviced from South Coast for £170. Alot cheaper than my mates RB5 the previous day!! over £400!!
Am looking for someone to do the colour coding but they all seem to want me to take out a bank loan to manage to afford it!!
Cheapest so far is £300 and thats just the trim. No handles!

Your car doesn't look like a Lexus with those tail lights, it looks like a $3,000 Civic.
If you're dead-set on changing your tail lights, at least go with JDM:
It's frustrating to us Subaru enthusiasts state-side to see GC8 body-style WRX's and limited edition STi's by the handful get cheapend up by the addition of $50 tail lights.
Ugh, and this just makes baby Jesus cry.

Cobreth - I agree with you that Lexus lights often do look very cheap. In fact I hate lexus back lights on any car other than a silver classic impreza and even then they have to be the chrome finish ones not smoked.
The JDM lights you refer to are STI rear clusters. The only problem with them being that in this country they are £300 which is the best part of $500US. Not everyone can afford to pay that much for a set of back lights.
If you want an example of a badly modified Honda get a load of this

Strange, we can get them in the US for around $230 US, or £120.

I have tried your link and it doesn't seem to work. Please can I have more info on the sti lights.
By the way I am the RB5 owner mentioned at the begining of this thread. £450 for a 60,000 service to records although the car has only done 27,000. A bit steep I thought although i had heared the 60k was an expensive one. Didn't expect that though. No other work needed apart from the standard service. Not cheap to own a scoob.

Should be on your wage RB5 IOM...
The link Matt left dosent work, can you post the correct link please.
We would all be very interested to see and purchase these Sti lights for that price. Even if we have to pay for shipping and tax etc...
Also i think no Scooby owner goes out of there way to destroy the look of there car. Although some people do just that!!!
Some lights can look good on some cars, its all a matter of taste. Whoever owns that Honda though needs shot!!
Sorry in advance if it is you!
If you thought car looked bad then check out some of the others on this site!!!

Matt, can you try to fix your link please... Cheerz

New pics
I have just taken a few more pics of the car.
Will post them tomorrow.
Anybody got any pics of silver scoobies to give me some ideas?
I am after a new grill for the older classic shape. The one that makes it look similar to the uk spec or the later Sti?
Anyone bought one of these for their wrx's?

I wish. I've got a black bugeyed 2.5RS. But here's more pictures of that car: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=385471
I'm not sure why that link doesn't work. I've tried it, my girlfriend has tried it, and even a friend of mine who's studying at Hertfordshire has tried it.
Try this: Go to www.allsubaru.com and search for "JDM lights" and it should be the 4th result. Good luck!

Myself and RB5 Iom still cant see any Sti lights yet.
We will keep trying though. Do you have any other sites contacts for us to get these lights?
Here is a couple of pics of my slighty changed rear end plus some other views.
I will need to save for Sti lights, but in the meen time i will stick with these until i have done the other mods.

The number from the web site is 1-800-426-1332 or you can e-mail sales@allsubaru.com. Also, if you go to www.nasioc.com and PM "SubieGal", she'll certainly help you out.
