Not all of them, as there were a lot of Imprezas (and Z's, and S2000's, etc. etc.).

How many members are there in Tokyo, and how many of you have cars, let alone Scoobs. I have a Toyota Starlet Glanza V, but that's another story.

On the Subaru Stand, there was a car modified by STi which was a nice subtle Metallic Silver Grey, had a SMALL carbon rear wing, carbon front splitter, and Front and Rear carbon bucket seats, among a lot of other mods. The Rear buckets were integrated into the rear seat cushions, and looked pretty cool, if a tad difficult to get in and out of. I think my ribs are too wide for the front seats. Other than that. I think I want one. One of the least flashy cars at the show, and not entirely coincidentally one of the most attractive. I don't have any pics, sadly, other than in the brochure i picked up, so you'll just have to take my word for it. sorry about that.

Tokyo - B4 RSK, member of B4 group in Tokyo, 3 other B4s, 1 GT-B, 2 STis (1 bugeye <tuned and rather quick>, and 1 new one <tuned and bl00dy quick&gt.

2 of the B4s are lightly tuned as well, and rather sharp (although one - mine - is on snow tyres now ).

I'm quite taken by the silver STI: I'd love to see it make production. I've translated the STI show blurb for anyone who is interested. It was translated by WorldLingo, but you can get the general gist...

"High power efficiency and the sport sedan of European テイスト
which pursues the material feeling of one class"

The running and material feeling in regard to one ranking were
added to in presser WRX STi which is proud of symmetrical AWD and high
performance with combination of the EJ20 boxer turbo engine, toward
the sport sedan of European style aimed.

The instrument panel pad of interior, uniqueness paint of all mat
black (high chamois paint) with the paint it does door upholstery and
the resin part, rendering the driving space which settles. The
steering wheel, the shifter boots, hand brake grip and the roof trim,
the seat epidermis has modified in the alkane tare material. Most as
for adhering with the seat, as for the front seat you adopt the
reclining seat of the complete original high back type bucket type
which was developed with the German レカロ corporation jointly with
the interior, in addition, you have made the レ mosquito ロ make
separate type where also the rear cockpit seriously considered the
hold make at the time of sport driving. The front seat has become
carbon make ライトウェイトシェル of lightweight high
rigidity. With these, you make specialize to the environment which
concentrates the interior on driving, pursue the material feeling of
touch and the touch impression etc. simultaneously thoroughly.

The trim the solid which produces the functional impression in the
body color adopting grey metallic. The compact the carbon make front
underskirt which shows optimum aerodynamic balance, the rear wing, the
side skirt strake is installed. The aluminum wheel made the BBS make
18 inch forging one piece wheel of original design, the tire appointed
ピレリ P-ZERO コルサ which seriously considered dry road surface
grip characteristic. In addition, ラジエターグリル was
designated as the aluminum mesh, also the audio antenna allotted short
circuit type to the roof rear end, made the exterior which represents
the efficiency of the running which is high. Prejudice is included
even in form of the carbon make wiper fin.

The engine itself is for WRX STi of standard, but weight balance of
connecting rod and ピントン and the valve is selected in the
manual operation, best balance tuning is administered. Suspension, the
series-wound coming coil spring which jointly uses the helper spring
to height adjustment type strut of new development, with combination
with the private front and back stabilizer, actualizing the controller
bull and the handling which held down the roll. The clutch installs
the twin plate disk which increased capacity, raised capacity in spite
also operativity has become satisfactory ones even.

Ah yes, that's the one. I was thinking of scanning in the brochure tomorrow, but I don't think I'll do that now. I'll be busy anyway, honest. Cool car. Think I'll wish I could get one some day....

"Prejudice is included even in form of the carbon make wiper fin."

Utter bollox, but thanks for the translation. If you read it enough times, it almost starts to make sense. On the other hand, maybe I should get out more and meet real people.

How many of you Tokyo-ites have hung around Daikoku Futo in the middle of the night to see what crazy beasts the local nutters have brought out to play with on a Friday night? I would never consider attending a cruise in the UK, but the Japanese equivalent is funny, and the cars are a lot more impressive. I've a short video in the File Sharing part of my website, if anyone is interested. It's rubbish actually, so you probably won't be much the wiser.

Cheers,

F

Simon,

While I was the sad anorak taking pictures almost exclusively of cars at the show (and getting through a scary amount of film in the process), can you guess what most of the Japanese anoraks were photographing?

I was a lot less pervy, a bit more nerdy. Never mind.

Flingstam,

We don't spend much time down there. it is really a show place for the FATF crowd, the "I have a power generator in my boot for my amps" crowd, and a lot of stupidity. The serious hands (who generally don't want the attention) stay well away.

Anyway, we don't have enough money sitting in our cars that is visible to get "in" with that lot (thankfully).

Oh, and we are not that serious about it all because we have other lives to lead

Cheers

PS you must be one of the few who still use film here

Mr Flibble - I've taken the liberty of translating the katakana in the blurb...

reclining seat of the complete original high back type bucket type
which was developed with the German RECARO corporation jointly with
the interior, in addition, you have made the RE mosquito RO (RECARO?) make
separate type where also the rear cockpit seriously considered the
hold make at the time of sport driving. The front seat has become
carbon make LIGHTTWEIGHT SHELL of lightweight high
rigidity. With these, you make specialize to the environment which

with the private front and back stabilizer, actualizing the controller

I know what you mean about Daikoku Futo (honest). It's more of an interesting cultural phenomenon (and an opportunity to go rapidly deaf) than a fascinating car place, although every now and again you see something really weird. I've only been there once, but it was quite funny.

Unfortunately, I've already got plans this weekend (and have turned down another skiing offer to pursue them), but I would certainly be interested in meeting up and talking about cars and real life too.

I have a film SLR and a digital compact, so I try to cover both sides. Digital SLR was nice, but about double the maximum I'd ever want to pay, so I'll stick with film for the decent photos for now.

Cheers,

f

Oh yeah, I live in Isehara, Kanagawa-ken.

It's about an hour SW of Shinjuku on the Train, between 30mins and 8hours by car...

Christian,

Try

http://homepage.mac.com/neil_mac

The movie should work OK if you have Quicktime. You can also download a higher quality version from the File Sharing area.

Cheers,
