The car is an absolute missile now!

Power was probably 275ish before but a car with the same spec as mine now has just run 355bhp/310lb/ft at G-Force. Lets just say there is a HOOGE difference in oomph now compared to previously!

Nice one Phil, but I think you need to reduce the boost slightly!!! It's making more power than you had in mind!!!

Mr Tang - LMAO, this is all your fault!! Reduce boost, nah, that's for wimps!

Aceman - the two pipes channel air from the front mounted intercooler to the engine (and yes, it is quite violent, but something that's about to be sorted).

Cheers

wouldn't there be more power when removing the license plate!? it covers most of the FMIC

edit to say it looks well nice! we here in switzerland would get in big trouble with the cops... how about in GB?

Nothing to do with them as long as the plate is ok.

Hi Guys,

Jake - I could move the SQV to same location as yours but it's more a case of not having the inclination to do it than anything. Pics were taken when I wetnt to pick the car up so that was how it had been fitted by Barratts.

I haven't bothered removing the bonnet vents as I have wrap around the areas where the pipes touch the vents.

Number plate has been cut down to size now, but I have a stick-on plate on the way so may do away with the no.plate altogether.

Mark - yep, got no option but to fit a sport-cat downpipe, if only to give me some back pressure and bring the stock boost level down so I can run a more reasonable low boost setting on the HKS EVC5. Will lose approx 5bhp but gain a load more torque down the rev-range as the turbo does take a little too long to spool up (and then all hell breaks loose!) with my present exhaust/downpipe combo; plus I don't have to worry about putting a CAT back on for MOT time.

Hi Jake,

The wrap used was basically the same as you'd lag a turbo or downpipe in - nothing fancy I'm afraid. Car is still at Barratt's at the moment but when I get it back I'll take some pics.

Two ways of fitting the dump valve - either by adapter as per mine or straight into the inlet pipe as per Jake's setup.

Hi Simon,

All the work and parts were arranged by Nitosport and the FMIC/Turbo etc was fitted by Barratts Motorsport in Canterbury.

Nito has done a lot of work on my car from fitting a HKS EVC5 boost controller, Ecutek'ing my ECU and fitting all my gauges. He has an arrangement with Barratts that for new turbos/FMIC's etc they do the work (and believe me they are top notch!).

Nito is well known on this board (although he doesn't post much anymore)as he created one of the first big power Scoobs aka The Monster.

Rgds

Question

may i ask if it is worth spending the extra money on HKS stuff? i take it then are all truly bolt on parts with no modding required what so ever?

The HKS stuff isn't cheap but then you get what you pay for. IMO it's the best stuff out there and I did consider other makes e.g APS but I know that HKS equipped cars can make the power and make it reliably (fingers crossed).

It helped that another car was done by Nito just before I had mine done that had the same spec so I knew what to expect and hit the levels that I wanted.

As for the parts, since I didn't fit them I don't know what was involved but apart from the cutting of the bumper required for the FMIC they are AFAIK just bolt on.

Phil, I was in the workshop last week when this was being done, the two things that struck me where you might need to put some sort of mesh in front of the I/C, one bird strike = no I/C, and the pipework in front of the n/s/f wheel might need some sort of guard, being below the splash guard it's a little vulnerable to sleeping policemen, etc.
