--> OH MY GOD! (dribble dribble) TSL's Carbon fibre Bonnet <--
#1
The one, the only, the long awaited supercool high quality carbon fibre bonnet supplied by the Tarting Mod Gods of Notts: TSL
Every time I walk back towards the car I have the biggest grin ever. This is simply a stunning piece of kit.
The scoop is twice as deep as the standard scoop, but IMHO this is how the scooby scoop should have been in the first place. When you look at other normal scoops they look too small. It still presents the same aspect ratio from the cockpit though.....
I'm still dribbling.
Photoshoppers: Feel free to try it out on different color cars...
BIG THANKS TO TSL, especially PAUL, IAN and GLENN.....

Each to their own I guess....from the fact that you want people to see it as you have posted in general aswell you can have my opinion.
I don't think it looks good.
BTW, if people want to see it then they will look in here you don't need to post in general also.
Edited to add that I agree with a post below, POC's looks much better and more professional IMHO.

Not sure, that'll be my ten peneths worth
Not altogether bad, don't get me wrong and the rest of the car looks in fine fettle But maybe it's summat that needs to be seen in the flesh.
A shudder to think how much it cost and i'm sure i'd have found a better use for the money modding something else on the scoob. Unless you already have done everything you wanted to.
I'll shut up now Remember, this is only MY opinion and for everyone like me, there will be someone who loves it

I like the idea of the CF bonnet and this looks almost factory (thats a good thing) from the pics.
I don't see the point about the scoop though, yes its wider so it'll fit bigger TMICs but why do you need the length when it looks no higher then std? Surely it'll let the same amount of air in?

Come on then put us all out of our misery how many hundreds of pounds did that cost then???? and are you going to paint it so that it matches the car and doesn't make it look like an old sierra.

The probem with the TMIC is that at high speeds the airflow doesn't actually enter the scoop/intercooler, it is buffeted over the scoop by the front end, hence the FMIC. I guess this design allow a little less of the air to miss the scoop. phffft

one of the best carbon jobs on a car I have ever seen is sitting outside my window here.... the new BMW CSL. Carbon roof, front and rear.... plus door panels etc.etc. Plus, the lines of carbon are actually STRAIGHT!!!! as opposed to this.
Perhaps it would actually look nice if some research was done for a better designed scoop, which was also part of the bonnet, not just an add on - then the lines wouldnt look so chunky -
Just my oppinion though . please dont flame me - NC

When the hell has Paul ever given a discount?
I'm not getting it painted. I like looking like a Luton Taxi driver Besides, I need to get a big sticker that said in large letters "THIS IS A CARBON FIBRE BONNET"
....cue peeps making up their own stickers to put on it....

One of the problems with the CF bonnet is the weight. Its too light, so that it lifts and wobbles in a worrying fashion, hence why POC had to use bonnet pins (I think). This is triple skinned, bringing its weight in line with the Alloy bonnet, so it doesn't need the bonnet pins.
It does actually wobble less than the ali bonnet as the carbon is more ridged than the aluminium...

Yes, I do recall seeing bonnet pins on a pic of his car. Interesting what you say about the weight. Perhaps I'll just look for a secondhand alloy bonnet. I imagine they're fairly rare!

A new alloy bonnet will cost you more than the CF bonnet, and you are right about the 2nd hand bonnets. Rocking horse poo. Breakers generally don't have any as most scoobs come with front end damage. The only people to have them would be people who, say, I dunno, put carbon fibre ones on to STI's.

Is the scoop moulded into this one Dan, and if not, is the aperture the same size as on the OE bonnet?
Like the bonnet, but prefer the standard scoop...

That was pre-facelift, so they won't really help me. OK, will keep looking out for the proverbial rocking horse by-product of a bonnet, or save the pennies for some carbon goodness.
