16 hours work over a couple of weekends!

A full wash, clay, paint cleaned and wax. Wait a week and then another wash and wax. Is she starting to shine or what?

Andy

16 hours broken up over 2 weekends

The claying of the car took about 3 hours on it's own, but what a difference it made to the paint finish. 4 years of crap gone and super smooth paintwork left.

fdpxfunix..........3 hours to clay the car....jeez..what on earth were you doing. You have taken no more than 20 mins and that is working a slow pace.

I normally spend 6 hrs to take a car and prepare to concours standard inc the inner wheel rims.

Whats all this clay malarky about?
Ive heard of it but havnt a clue what it does, when you use it and what you use it with!
I always thought you just washed a car, leathered it of, slapped some polish on and hey presto!
Obviously this isnt the case, could somone tell me more

this afternoon(monday), i used t-cut(same sort of idea as the clay, i think), then put on a coat of swissol, polished the wheels and cleaned the glass inside and out. it took about 4 hours start to finish and i thought i was taking my time. 16 hours???

think yours has a bit more of a shine right enough though

T cut is nothing like the clay bar, t cut, does just that, actually removes a layer of paint/laquer, where as the clay bar only removes the crap thats got stuck to it over time, tcut can also leave scrathes, there's no way t cut is ever going to be used on my car!!!

Does the paint cleanser do as good a job as a clay bar ?

Cleanesed and waxed mine today and paintwork is smooth and gleaming.

Does it need claying ?

t-cut is good if you use it right, i used it to remove scrathes and marks that were on the car, used the wax after and theres not a mark on the car now and its shiny as a brass bo11ock

I know it looks nice but at what price ?

I use AUTO GLYM not saying its good but I did the Trax 2003 show and shine for SIDC and did not win

So I asked the winner what polish, and it was guess what Auto Glym
use AG super resin polish and then AG extra Gloss

I won the JAE Show and shine on the sunday at Billing for best New Age with AG

Blimey. All I wanted were a few 'looks good' comments

Mark ... you do it for living and you're good at it. I do it for fun and just enjoy taking my time. You must be a 'Wizard' to get a scoob clayed in 20 minutes. I've got no chance. A wash and dry takes me the best part 1 1/2 hours.

Autoglym Resin Polish with the High Gloss finish IMHO is damn good stuff. My old 1987 Vauxhall Carlton came up a treat with Autogylm, but my DBM Scoob seems dull after using it.

Claying is simple.

a) Soak a clay bar in some warm water for a while
b) Get the car wet and keep it wet!
c) Rub the clay bar over small areas at a time (you'll feel the bar will move more smoothly over the surface as the crap comes off)
d) Keep folding the clay bar into itself to expose a clean side
e) Repeat until the car is finished.

Before claying and just washing/polishing my Scoob, I always found little bits on the paintwork were noticable when applying polish and buffing off. Not anymore

J.
