Andy,
Many thanks for posting it up
Come on guys take it easy This lap was my VERY first lap around the 'Ring' so I was taking very steady The slight off shows how unsighted corner and the distraction of the Biker can catch you out
Edited to say
Squizz,
Both occassions on the Karrusel I believe I was allowing a car one 1 and a M/bike on the other to undertake
My Cameraman/Navigator/Mate memory is worse than mine and called quite a few wrong corners. Maybe he thought it would be more fun for the Video

ADP,
I did improve, after about 4 laps started to remember most series of bends but unsure of the Order in which they came would need about 20+ laps before reasonable confident about routes and lines. IMHO
Creepy,
At Adenaur Forst I knew I wasn't going to make it sideways so I turned into the kerb to take it straight on, didn't want to Flip it over. As you said, I was LUCKY there was no Armco and could take to the grass.
And totatly agree about having an experienced 'Ringer' next to you

It was brilliant and I did improve a little as you say nice to see a "how not to do it Video". Agree with the late call, but after all I was the driver so buck stops with me I had committed to much speed into corner to get by the biker, he heading for the righthander apex which I need to clip Then exit speed. too fast and line comprimised to the next corner the rest is history
I am not ashamed of the pace I drove, just tried to be sensible
I bought a 3 then a 5 lap ticket, but wasn't feeling too good on Sunday Practiced "Ein Beir bitten" to often . So only so gave the remaining 2 or 3 laps on the 5 ticket to my mate. I didn't want to do drink driving or risk my Pride and Joy.
Yes the beeper can be turned off and just indicator light will show. It is annoying on video, but quite useful when busy and wearing a crashhat as tone engine is lost.

Downloading now to check...

Just watched it...
1) Was that a Mazda MX6 overtaking, Tony??!!??
2) You merely clipped the edge of that corner, I launched off the kerbs Dukes of Hazard stylee, and had to drive across half of Germany to find the track again!
3) Why didn't you drop into the Karussel (sp?) ?
Great vid, including a gratuitous helmet shot. LOL!

Looking at your video here are some tips :
Don't stress your engine that muck, go to 5.5-6k and shift, Subaru engines have loads of torque to work with.
There are white dot's for entry-apex-exit on a corner.
Nest time, ask someone with expierience to give you a passenger lap, you can learn much about that...
And finally, praise yourself lucky to get back in the UK with a car that has tha same shape as before.... You were very lucky at Adenaur Forst, normally you bent wheels and axles there because of the high curbs...
And were you see people on the track-side, there is always a tricky part....

Went to the Ring last week on my Bike, a Honda Blackbird, the ring was open all day, but was an absolute nightmare, with an open day for all these, Porsches, and Ferraris!, (scuse spelling), about 50 or 60 of the buggers, and they kept on crashing, or dumping oil and causing bikes to off, it ended up closed for about 5 hours all told, but I did enjoy my laps, have been there before on the Bike but have yet to take the scoob, so that is a definate for next year!

i watched the video and thought u did well as it was ur first outing on the track, must have been daunting as many of the bends are over brows of the hills.
Lucky u had a 'co driver' telling u some of the next bends etc
its amazing how much another car or bike on the track can put u off.
looks like u enjoyed it tho, gr8 vid.
a few of my Ford RS mates plan on going sometime in the near future, thinking on joining em.

Fantastic m8!
First video ive seen that didnt make me think "your too crap to risk going"!!!!
Looks like you had fun... made me laugh when your passenger says something like "watch this one - it goes hard right in a mo"... just as your commited to the corner... and you go off... thats why the rally guys need the pace notes delivered BEFORE the next corner - not during it!!!
Good stuff.. how many laps did you do in the end - and can you turn off that annoying beep/shifter thing next time.. how do you live with it????
Jza

I did the same as Tony...
Whenever I'd driven that corner before, it'd always been under caution so I had to pootle through whilst avoiding the Marshal's Merc Wagons.
On my last lap, it was all clear so I went shooting up the hill, and the severity of the left-hander is only revealed as it spears across the horizon!
My stark choice was to try and get round, with the possibility of broad-siding the kerbs and barrel-rolling across the grass...Or scrub as much speed as possible and go straight over.
I took the latter.
My decision was rewarded with a sharp *THUNK* and then a bow wave of mud as we landed on the grass.
=> LESSON LEARNT: RESPECT THE 'RING <=
After a short silence, I said "Sorry" to my passenger, who wryly replied "Oh, right - We're not supposed to do that, then?"

Nice video!
Ferry = £100
Accomodation = £35-£50 per night (50 - 75 Euro's)
Petrol = £250-300
Lap tickets = £103 for 12 laps
Food and drink = £150
The Nurburgring is not paticularly hard on brakes and tyres compared to a UK track day.

Tony,
Enjoyed the video, good to see respect for the track, going there next week so looking forward to it, did you say you only did 2 laps? How many can you realisticlly get in a day?

I usually do about 12 laps a day.
The most I have ever done is 14, (although the car did 17), and I know of people who do over 20 laps in a day. I tend to go out for 2 laps at a time then take a rest.
