Dan, your more than welcome it was very reasonable even I was getting reasonable MPG, I think ,

Nozzer,
I bought a 3(use on day of purcase only) IIRC then a 5 lap ticket(use within x days), used the 3 and 2 or 3 laps of the 5 ticket on Saturday also did some Pasenger rides to see lines

Sunday morning, slight hangover so watched at Showboat corner till Midday. I then went on Track, I started at the Village (long story) so only used 1/2 Lap,

but I didn't feel comfortable on circuit so hung up my Crashhat and passed the remaining 11/2 to 2laps to Mate. Didn't want to spoil great trip with some poor concentration

I would agree with Davy try to do 2 laps ( but then take car out of circuit for brake cool down run With stopages, passenger rides, food and yaking etc. 8 laps would be about right for us mere mortals

Sunday is normally quieter due in parts to "Night life" or "Morning death" so 10-14 more likely then So won't drink some much next year

Yeah, come on Dan!

Karen and myself drove the 'Ring three times each, and passengered friends several times. I'd have put some more laps in, but had a problem with the gearbox and decided to play it easy...

Can't wait for our next chance.

I did 10 laps as a passenger before I felt confident enough to drive the ring but I wasn't driving my own car I blagged loads of rides and instruction until I was confident that I knew where the corners went. On my first lap I was slow (by my usual driving standards) and found myself watching the mirrors lots waiting for bikers. Looks like you had fun It is amazing how many people bin their cars at the ring so caution is advised. Good quality Video Tony

Paul,
570 people have though so too, my mate has had a counter on it I think because it's a far from perfect lap, maybe peeps can relate to it more than, one by a Top driver

later in the day, about 4-5pm when most peeps were getting ready for tea The traffic was far less and I was more confident and a lot less people overtaking me

Sabine "Ring Taxi" and a Porker attached to her bumper for came down the fox hole section( Names!)and I let them go past kept up for two/three bends then 100m straight and gone
Agree with the bikers their cornering speeds and lines are different to car (flame suit ready) their safety always concerned me. I treid to give them plenty of respect and leeway

Nozzer,
You lucky git

I did 28 passenger laps before having a drive myself, which I took with a regular ringer to tell me the lines. Luckily I was lent a car to do this in

I've now done about forty driving laps and I still can't put a lap together in my head You'll be suprised at how many times you can think a corner is 'flat' and then realise it isn't...

The last trip (Aug 03) there were some college lads with five cars having a go for the first time. Only 2 cars returned and one chap ended up in hospital with a broken vetabrea.

Go careful out there - not scaremongering but all the hype is true.

Still, can't wait until Friday to be there again!

Thanks Paul, I got a bit carried away last time so it was probably good that the i/c temps (70C+) were telling me to slow down.

At least this time Tavia won't have the excuse that his car is over heating/half boost/need water wetter etc

Wev just arrived back from there this weekend, you have to respect the ring, its an awesome place and will bite you very hard, cause its so long and no run offs just armcove, you would have to have many a lap to remember whats coming next, you think you know whats coming and think right flat out through here and then its not!!! its a sharp right or left!! i can probally remember the first 4-5 miles and showboat section and a couple of other sections but trying to put everything together to have a real flying lap will all be down to putting as many laps under your belt as poss, but the whole atmosphere and the way everybody helps out is just great,it just has to be the best and most scariest place to race your car in the world!! cant wait till easter now!! well and truly hooked!!!!!

Nellie,
Bitten by the 'Bug' now then and yes we are also booking up for next year Easter or May Bank Holiday but there isn't any comfirmed dates yet !!

Even my First lap at lowly 10.15min and had an off thankfully I drove sensible from the start or could have been a lot worse the 'Ring' can make some VERY deep scars
As with you, I could remember most road sections, but never quite sure of which order they came in not good for "flat over creast" ...... "Oh, ****" 'Bang crash wallop'

I really need to do some laps with some experienced 'Ringers' to see more of the correct lines I have a tendency to turn in too early on most corners, which is a slower in and faster out approach (bigger magrin for error on THAT corner ) but is slower overall and can comprimises the line for next corner IMHO

The way to go is get someone whos a ringer to come out with you,PhilA took me out in a well sorted WRX.we were stuck to a Carerra RS all the way round, just cannot describe it,and Tavia RS came out with me and gave me some of the lines but most of the lap was ruined by bikes! they were like flys! just appearing from nowhere!! mind you they deserve medals, had a good lap from a chap called Tony in a new M3 god did he now that place back to front, and wow what a car he even had new bilstiens fitted when we were there, just goes to show the ring is not so much a power circuit but without any question a handling one,PhilAs and mellows were like glue!
