British Scoobs

Evening Boys and Girls
I have a friend who belives "HE", knows everything about Scooby's. and in a nuttshell he told me that British Scoobys are crap.
this being because he owns a Jap one, the problem here is i'm 27 and the Jap import market doesn't sit well with me, no points fines no nothing just a stolen car 3 years ago, and or course being 27.
so i'm doing the next best thing, which is going to save me like £1500 on my insurance, i'm getting a British 98 model. so apart from kicking my m8 in the dump valve. could anyone give me some good advice about why he thinks British ones R crap.
thanks in advance

They are designed to run on our fuel. The jap ones are expecting 100RON fuel, and therefore without the aid of costly octane boosters etc and 100% SUL/optimax useage only they go BANG! Though bear in mind that bang is without warranty too, although in your case a 98 car wouldn't have warranty left either i would imagine.

Shame you can't get a MY99/00 car instead. They have far more tuning ability and options!
My old car UK MY99
Performance: 356bhp/299lbft
Link ECU, Power Enterprice PE1818 turbo, APS front mounted intercooler, APS cold air kit, APS dump valve, MRT turbo inlet pipe.
Cost to insure, more than a standard UK car, but less than an unmodified STI!!!
Showed up a lot of tuned Japanese Imprezas on the rollers, but obviously not on the road as the road is not a race track!

Yeah, stretch for a 99/00 if you can, slightly more power, better ecu, newer front end (looks sharper IMO) and best of all if you're thinking of upgrading the power is 4pot calipers as standard compared to the MY98's 2pots, and trust us when we say you WILL want to modify and you wont be wanting to spend £1500 on new brakes!!! So in the long run stretching to a 99/00 will save you money in the long run! Oh and you'll also get a bigger spoiler but you'll soon want to replace it anyway
