How the hell did you get 240bhp out of a B reg manta.
2.0 16v, thought they were only 8v. Learn somthing everyday
BTCC 2.0 16v cars were only 300 and that was only 5-6 years ago.
Good memories brought back seeing that car my mate had one of the special edition ones cant remember name, stickered upto the eyeballs, that was quite quick but weighed nearly 2 ton, real handfull in the wet, spent many anight facing the wrong way round a raoundabout.

the blue manta started out with a 2.0 8 valve 110 bhp, later had exhaust and filter, then a 2.2 bottom end, then group a head and cam, then twin 45's, then junked it and replaced with astra 16v engine with high comp pistons, road/rally cams, verniers and throttle bodies for 240 bhp and revved to 8k, the car was quite light compared to a scoob at 1040 kg

theres a time warp, still got the mag in the loft, i lost all my old mags when my parents sold their house about 6 or 7 years ago, just kept the manta articles
the blue manta is sadly no longer on the road, i stripped it to a bare shell for a respray and found loads of rot, i'd bumped the car badly 3 times whilst i owned it , where new panels had been welded on it had burnt the paint and had been rusting nicely for about 9 years, i scrapped it, sold the parts, and bought the 240 but that never replaced my blue one, i bought the red scoob for an everyday car as the 240 was a show/track car and fell in luv with the scoob, sold the 240 to buy a rb5 wr, wasnt that keen on it , and got the p1 instead

did the blue one still have the standard axle? I found that mantas just spin the inside wheel insead of putting the power down and you had to be a hooligan to get it going sideways second gear dip the clutch, 6500 rpm sidestep the clutch , **** loads of opposite lock and one hell of alot of smoke and a massive smile I miss that actually I have 2.8 capri for that now.

hi paul
it had the 3.67 axle from a 1800 manta, because the engine didnt produce any power below 4500 rpm there wasnt any probs like that, it used to have a 2.2 engine on twin downdraughts, with that there was a lot of low down power, loads of spinning inside wheel then, id bought an lsd from zf for it whilst it was off the road for the respray, managed to get a new one from zf for £500.
im running around in a lhd 1800 auto manta at the moment to save the mileage on the scoob, good fun in the wet !

Hey!, Ive got that copy of fast car up in the loft!
That was back in the days when they told you how to actually tune up a car. And even I had a mullet
Nice looking engine that 16V, wouldve looked better in my old MK2 Escort though
Only joking!. But you were lucky to get the 1.8s gearbox to handled the 240bhp I thought they were only rated to 180-ish

the 1800 and gte box are the same inside, both good for 270 bhp, an lsd was about £300 back in 89 when i bought the car, couldnt afford one then as i was only on £90 a week !

mmmm, Manta's....superb classic RWD fun.
Mark,
You NEED to have the Prodrive 18" fitted to that STi.
How far off is the PPP? CVC seemed to get both of mine very quickly!
