Lightbulb

Knowing you lot are never backward in coming forward with your views on new products

What do you think of this?.. I know guage pods have been done to death.. but this will be sensible money.. Real carbon mat.. not carbon effect and uniquely flips up to allow easy gauges/bulb changing, hiding of little odds and sods etc.. by using the factory hinges...

What do you think

over to you....

Cheers

Trouser

Neat idea Paul! Personally I don't like Carbon stuff but it's a great idea none the less. What size gauges will it take (as they look like 46mm). Will it take 52mm and 60mm?

Ta,

Matt

Flip tops a good idea, although not too keen on the shape of it, maybe its would look better with Defi's installed.
Any plans on doing a near-dash effect finish?

Hmmm.
Nice idea but looks-wise it's pretty poor. It would be better if the gauges were shrouded like the Defi style ones.
How does the pod lock down? Is the lock strong enough to hold down the weight of the pod + gauges when bouncing along the infamous "twisties" - (C)Scoobynet 2002 - where we all take our cars when we want to beat Ferraris, Evos etc etc?

PS. Carbon Fibre - nay, nay and thrice nay. Make it match the interior plastic instead.

Does the finger come with it as part of the package

Very nice Paul, shame there's no pod like that for the old bones out there.

Superb idea, but think the design needs looking at. Make the pods more rounded over the top with a thinner profile, inset the gauges, and finish off with a metallic ring around each maybe. Bit like the TT's/Alfa's

Fantastic idea though.

Hi Guys

Thanks for the feedback

will try to work out an exact price for you and post up. We were thinking of doing a dash colour one in GRP.. which will obviously be a little bit less...

The reason the little guages look a bit lost is that it was designed to take the larger size guages as well.. on the same mould which will help keep the cost down

I agree.. shrouding would look nice.. but the Defi style would be hard to reproduce in carbon mate I am reliably informed bu our composites guys..

Will keep you informed chaps anyways..

Thanks again

Paul

Question

Looks to me like it may 'flap' about / rattle like a demon when going down our super smooth roads - esp as there is no catch on the front of it, or do the hinges keep it from doing that?

Hi Phil

they're just a standard 52mm size m8

Valid points on keeping it down.. so to speak.. it will hve magnetic catches ideally.. at the mo.. it's just a friction catch.. which seems to work ok so far

Cheers

IMHO the gauges look *very* cheap n tacky compared to say Defi's, but I guess it all depends on the cost.

Are the roads you refer to as "twisties - (C)Scoobynet 2002" the famous "9 miles of quality lakeland twisties" of our recent run around the lake district ?

Make it match the interior plastic instead.

gr8 idea of still being able to use the storage.

IMHO would also look better if the gauges were slightly angled towards driver position.

look 4ward to prices

Good idea, with the hinges, but the gauges need to be set back in or flush the pod.

The reason why I have never bought a pod before is that I'm after a pod that directly reflects the cars main gauges. IMHO all these pods look daft with lots of yumps and bumps, when the cars instrument top is a nice smooth curve.

Plus needs to be available in dashboard finish

Keep up the good work

M
