There was a few quid spent on mods, on Michaels legacy, but nowhere near your car Mark. It has to be said though, your car is a very impressive bit of kit, but would like to have seen more runs. There must be a lot of potential there. Hopefully next year it will be better, or if there is another event soon, perhaps we can get our cars sorted for it. We were still working at the legacy at 2am on Sat morning, and we got the boat over on Sat afternoon. Time just wasnt on our side, but thigs did work out, and we got home, cars in one piece, so cant complain.
Good day out
I could also add a few pics here of Marks car. Why hide it, It might give inspiration to others.... Can we have hands up for those who would like to see a few pics ???

Why do things always go wrong at the last minute??? Its always the same. We will hopefully be ready for next year, or if another event is coming up. Have a few bills to pay off first, as we did go overboard to get there. Its just a pity the boat costs so bloody much. £200 from Larne-Cairnryan, then a wee drive.
We did come over to look at your car, but werent chattin much.. Michael was the one asking what sort of gearbox you had fitted. I was the small fat bald git, with the missfiring granada.
It was really running like a pig. I think the pirck who modified my heads, really cocked them up. The heat too didnt help things, I realy need to work on keeping it cool. I seen water temps at 105degC!!! Air temps were over 50 deg. When it wasnt missfiring, it was ding-a-ling. Then it all went pearshaped, and it would hardly go. Discovered on the way home, the bolts holding the plenum box on had came loose. There is still some cyl head issues tho.
Still need to get the legacy to a RR, as its still only been messed about with on the road. Im not sure whether we would gain much in outright power, but im sure that better mapping could help mid-range, and boost pickup etc. Its a pity there arent any RR over here, and the couple that there is, well, we wouldnt take a Lada to them. A good question would be, who are the best rolling roads??? We were down at Richard's PS, in Cheltenham, but at that time, the car was just pish. A few mods down the line to sort out boost/air temp probs have been sorted since then. We also met the guy with the beard that day at PS, getting his alignment checked, who was with you on sunday at elvington?? Whos that?? His car had a few mods done to it when we seen it there.
I sort of picked up who others where although didnt stop to say anything. I was just more pissed off at my car, and pretty annoyed. Met David though, and Ian ( UKlegacyT ) briefly.

Hello everyone...
What a mad day, but fantastic day at Elvington, North Yorks. Here are the snaps that I managed to get today.
Thoroughly enjoyed today, can't wait for the next one. Here you go..
Take a bow, John Felstead, poser....
Plantie, smokin rear tyres, very nice indeed......
Me thinks the 2 turbos on that Granada are just winding up, whooosh..........
How loud are these motors.... Truly amazing machines....
Unstoppable Escort Cosie, flying machine...
Maybe white van man should take a leaf out of black van mans book... How quick was this....
Plantie and Nito go head to head.... For fun of course
The infamous car, that ALL waited to see....
Scoobynetters group gathering...
My last snap of this motor, I think this is the one that clocked up 196mph top speed. Sounded like a jet aircraft when leaving the line...
Cheers

Awesome photos, Simon.
It was a great day. Nice to put some more faces to names.
My bro would have loved it yesterday. If everything goes to plan, way well run mine next year. Watch out Skylines! (yeah, right).
Cheers Rich

Still, we have to take your word for it

Nice one David, will know who to look out for next time....
Incidently, I managed to get a 1/8 tap for the exhaust manifold. Drilled and tapped it on Saturday, no problems... All three gauges now working a treat...
Cheers

That's all right Plantie mate, after all, you were running your contingency map and I fluffed third.

Well done.

Just wanted to mention Michael's runs. Didn't get to meet him, or at least he didn't let on, but his car was flipping quick, and makes me wonder if we really need to spend £££££££'s on mod'ing....

Stevie,
Sounds familiar.....
We stopped at 8pm Sat night, having just got the car back on Fri' evening. Discovered the main problem though (apart from my driving) checked the dyno data logs, and found that the fuel pumps being used weren't up to it !!!! So we were mapping with the fuel pressure dropping BIG TIME (up to 30%), and compensating with the map !!!
So now, given my OTT fuel system working correctly, I was over fuelling by up to 30%, and it was just killing the power off.
It was gettng better by the 3rd run, but we still needed to take out another 17% (we were being very conservative taking fuel out, just incase).
On the last run, I hit 7500rpm, in top, when the engine started missing big time and I had to lift off again. This happened before I could even SEE the 1.3mile gate !!!!! and I was only running 80% boost
Shame you guys didn't say who you were. Next time maybe
Now I've always said that I hate the drag strip, but, Sun' was blo*dy good fun
Mark.

Glad you have worked out the issue with the overfueling Mark! It was great to see the car running at last! Once you have the small jobs under the engine bay sorted it will be amazing. I'll mail you those pics tomorrow plus i have a couple of thoughts for you.

Stevie,
Shame about the Grenada, but it's sods law
I can only assume that the guy with the "beard" (that's no beard, he's just a lazy barsteward !) was Pat.
John, cheers. I blo*dy annoyed that I didn't pick up on it earlier, but that's sods law too. Got me curious about your "thoughts". Something along the lines of "stick to dragging, give up on the track, it's cheaper on tires"
Mark.

It would be great if there was a couple of events like that through the year. The surface at elvington is very grippy, and the setup was very good. A 1/4 would have been nice, as it is the normal drag run, but the 500m thing was good ( albeit it didnt leave a lot of room to slow down ). The 1.2mile however did seem to last quite a while. I didnt think a mile seemed so far. Some superb cars there, but Im not too keen on the skyline people. They are amazing cars no doubt, but just beyond the realms of normal people. I prefer to see people who have worked on their cars, and taken a more genuine interest in them, rather than just throwing moeny at someone. Its just not the same.
Cant wait til next year, or if there is anyone keen on organizing something later in the year, I'll try and be ready for it. No excuses next time.
