Hello everybody
Finally I have gone and done it. I have my new WRX MY02. And well the smile is from ear to ear.
Don't like the fuel economy :-( Still you gotta pay the price. The fun factor is off the scale.
So what do you think

Well, I've got the PPP, and I mustr admit its damn good! The in gear acceleration is fantastic! Before I got the PPP, I had my New Ahe Impreza Dynoed, it came up with 219bhp, and 214lb/ft of torque. Then after I got the PPP, I had 257bhp, and 261lb/ft of torque. What they did was remove a Cat Convertor, upgrade the intercooler piping (which reduces lag by 300rpm), the they upgrade the chip, and remap it, so you get good performance. Off the line its much quicker, and on the motorway it pulls much harder, I managed to get it to hit the otherside of the clock at 160mph in italy! Before i was struggling to reach 140mph, all this and it doesnt void your warranty/guarantee. You might also want a GFB dumpvalve from ScoobyMania which adds 4bhp and reduces lag loads! Do you still have to wait a while before turning off the car cause of the turbo?
I heard conflicting views some say it not ness on the new age impreza.
If you do have to wait, what length of time do you wait before switching off?

Vern its feckin orrible M8, Now ya got it I suppose you better come back to BBN to show it off, Andy is getting his GT on Friday so there will hopefully be 4 of us around at the end of the month and we can either nip down to the Schwarzwald or upto our dealer and then we can go down the dirt tracks or donut in the big field next to it. 
PS congrats on finally getting a real car, that thing you turned up to Southside in was embarrasing

Congratulations on the new car, I hope you have a big credit card!
A couple of tips: Don't thrash while running in, it could cause you problems (although the odd blip is okay). Make sure you warm the engine up before you plant the foot and do let the engine cool down, turbos are expensive and you really don't want to have to waste the money on one when you could get something more interesting!

I gotta say its so tempting to floor it.
I'm nearly there only 250 miles to go. Should do that this weekend I'm off to Stuttgart to give the porkers a run for their money.
So its true even with the new impreza's you still have to wait a while before switching off. How long should you wait?

Vel it is true for any turbo car that you should let it idle before turning it off.
If you get hold of this month Japanese Performance, there is a huge explanation of turbos in the "Tech Talk" section. Part of this is explaining why the turbo will be damaged if you turn it off straight away.
Basically the hot oil that is present in the turbo stays there when you turn it off straight away, this cooks the turbo. The oil can also set in the pipes as well. None of which is good.
After a normal run I usually wait around 30 seconds to turn it off after a rather more entertaining run or motorway driving I try to give it a couple of minutes.
These times are on a cool down section of driving were no boost is engaged at all.
I might be a little over the top but turbos are not cheap items and after having to replace the clutch recently I don't want to pay out again!

Basically a turbo timer leaves the engine running for a set amount of time once the engine has been turned off.
Some can be configured to calculate how long the engine should be left running from the amount of time you spent driving with boost engaged and a minimum about of time.
You might need to check that they can be used with the alarm sitted as standard on the 01/02.
If you have further questions you should try the General Technical forum and the Drivetrain forum. The people that frequent those forums, myself included, would be able to give you a wide breadth of advice for their collective experiances.
