My V3 Type R
Just thought I would post some pics of my build thread for my weekend car.
it's a 1997 v3 type R. Got 60k on the clock and I am the first owner in the UK.
only has a few mods on it: arc top mount IC. Panel filter and a full 3" HKS exhaust. It sits on Tein coilovers and runs on Sparco Tarmac alloys.
picked it up a couple of weeks ago and new their was a few faults with it after driving it home.
clutch was slipping in 5th gear and towards the end of my hundred or so mile journey I would feel the brakes binding on the rear.
next day the rear calipers were stripped and all was good again with the brakes (nice and straight forward cleaning was all they needed)
the car does have juddering from the DIFF so that will be looked at and I will be looking for a replacement R180 to go in. It is only obvious at lower speeds (jerky) and it just feels like the rear is heavy. So will get that replaced soon.
Now focussed on the clutch I started to look for a new one. Located an uprated clutch and lightened flywheel and ordered it. I wanted to get the timing belt, tensioners and Water pump done as garage that brought it in hadn't done it yet so that was next task.
booked it into B2G Performance in Newcastle and they then replaced the belts etc. Gave it a filter and fluid change and replaced the clutch and flywheel. Few issues as the car has an uprated HKS clutch and pressure plate and the bolts wouldn't fit the new clutch. A day spend on the phone had the new bolts sourced and the garage arranged to pick them up (happy days)
car comes out the garage and all is well.
took it up to Edinburgh from Newcastle and happy days. Upon returning I get a blow out at 70 on the a1 with no spare... Sigh.
and that is where we are up to lol
will be going into Andy Forest to get the ECU bench tuned and running on UK fuels without additives etc.

This is my favourite colour for the classic, getting a lot rarer to see these days. Version 3 as well. Its the one I would go for too. Looks very tidy too.
Do you have any plans on changing the wheels or bumper, as in bring it back to looking more original?

I dont mind the 22b front bumper.
I have ordered a set of bugeye STI alloys that i picked up CHEAP from ebay, so will be refurbishing them in gold and putting them on the car
As for the Sparco alloys, i am going to refurbish them and replace all 4 tyres after one of them blew out.

well damaged wheel and Tyre off.
I am in London for 4 days so leaving it on the axle stands for a couple of days and my Tyre guy will be out on Wednesday or Thursday to sort it out and replace all 4 tyres.
nice to see how clean it is under the car though
