Default Project Z

Hey there! Just wanted to take 5 mins and start my project thread. This is what I decided to start with as a platform. The car is a 2002 Bugeye WRX turbo, in really good condition. The plan is to facelift it to a hawk front and back end, because Hawkeyes are so so rare to find here in Slovenia in good condition. So decided to start with a cheaper good con car and work my way up Getting it done this winter so stay tuned!

Spec list:
- Fully rebuilt 05 STi engine
- Full stainless 3" exhaust with downpipe
- STi Brembos
- Remap by Bob Rawle (cca. 360hp)

Sadly my transmission decided it does not want to be a part of the car anymore last weekend so right now I'm in the process of finding a 6 speed STi box.

WOW thats nice!!

In our country, there are so many hawkeye models, and very few blobeye, and almost no bugeye's, pity you can't keep it a bugeye

i'd keep the bugeye front and source some prodrive lights, put a uk300 rear spoiler on, dark tinits and black the wheels

So a bit of an update. Wen't through Frayz build thread and after that I just can't do what I wanted to do to the bugeye, she's staying a bug, but I'm on the lookout for JDM STi headlamps and a prodrive bumper!

In other news, last weekend I had a bit of a driving weekend and really went hard on the car and the result was this. Ripped apart the 2nd gear. Now looking for a 6spd STi box and hopefully I'm back to driving this month...

Best, Z

Nice looking bug there.
Good luck with your project. I do hope you know the 6 speed box is not compatible with a 5 speed rear diff due to ratio differences and that the 6speed diff in its turn will not mate with your original driveshafts? I.e. you are looking at a rear axle overhaul as well.
I looked into changing to a 6 speed too but it is too expensive for me. Perhaps in the future.

So finally got a new transmission mounted! Now I'm rocking a 5speed setup from a 07 Hawk WRX. Had to change the rear diff, rear drive shafts and the clutch (push/pull switch). And now I need to break in the new brakes and clutch! Also got some rear blobeye lights and a new license plate! Loving the sunny days with it now!

So a little update, got a Varex muffler mounted yesterday and I love it! Switching from a silent exhaust to backfire frenzy on the push of a button is pretty slick!

Cool New bits!

So excited to share this with you guys! The second to final piece of my replica WRC kit just arrived, the rest is already home and waiting for paint. Now just need to find some WRC wing mirrors! So everything should be installed within a month or so, can't wait to see the car beefed up

Front bumper is by ABW (WRC replica)
Wings and rear quarters sourced from WRC spares
WRC hood sourced from wrc spares
Rear wing sourced from Germany

The body work is going to be done in 10 days, then it's off to get wrapped and then I need another week to put on some more pieces like the front splitter etc.. So Hoping to get it done by mid april!

Works really well, for long drives it's nice to have the car bi as or even quieter than stock. I'll do a video on of these days and post it up here

That's some transformation, mate! You've done a great job with it - certainly looks unique now. But it looked great originally, too.
