V5 Type R Engine Bay - Before & After
Bought this Type R in March and the engine bay was a bit of a mess and I love a tidy engine bay, so I set to work.
BEFORE
AFTER
Had a Hawkeye STI TMIC conversion done, which meant I had to lose the strut brace - but I wasn't that bothered about that. Samco Sport silicone hoses throughout, changed the HT leads to match, painted the alternator, coolant header tank and power steering bottle in satin black. Had the washer bottle painted in a soft touch matte black by my mate Locky who owns Hydrotek Custom Coatings. He also dipped my inlet manifold, alternator pulley cover, air intake snorkel and the RCM radiator cooling panel in a shadow chrome carbon. Then powdercoated the top radiator brackets in white. Fitted some genuine STI bits from Japan - Battery clamp, oil cap & header tank coolant cap and finished off with a set of carbon bonnet dampers and a polished stainless steel engine bay bolt kit with red washers from Rallytech.
I have a couple more things to add to the engine bay and I'll be happy with that.

He's a member on here username: X70cky. Here is his project thread:

Here is his Facebook photostream just to give you an idea of the quality of his work - first class.

All you need to do is drop him a pm and tell him what parts you want dipped and what patterns you fancy and he will give you a quote. To do my inlet manifold it was £150 and it was worth every penny:
Hope this helps

I didn't do the Hawkeye STI TMIC conversion myself, but I understand from my specialist he has to remove a little bit of the bulkhead and I think he also had to make some sort of bracket. But it is a million times better than the classic TMIC. Definitely worth doing. The Hawkeye STI TMIC is the one to go for as it is smaller than the Blob. My specialist Andy Kindon is a member on here and that is also his username. If you drop him a PM he is a really helpful guy and I am sure he will be happy to tell you what is involved.

They are Sokie Tech dampers. This is my 4th set as they are fantastic quality. They come from a guy in Taiwan and they are indeed the correct ones for the aluminium bonnet - he has the correct dampers for every make & model. Even though they come from Taiwan they have always arrived within 5 days and I haven't had to pay import tax on them yet. They are really easy and quick to fit. They lift the bonnet as smooth as silk at a very nice pace - not too fast and not too slow. Here's the link to his ebay shop:
