Default Hella Connector?

Hi,

Picked up a couple of sets of Hella 1000FF driving lights for my bug a while back and think its time to fit them. The set I want to fit have the sidelights on them too (along with a set of genuine bug mounting brackets). What I want to know is does anybody know if I can get a matching connector to the one in the picture? I know I could just chop it off and fit something else but would like to use this connector if I could.

Cheers,

Ayde.

Have a look here: www.vehicle-wiring-products.co.uk.

They may have something, but from the pic, that one looks pretty dirty?

They may sell you a set, chop that one off and use TWO new waterproof ones?

Thanks, I think that's probably the best option cheers, I was being lazy

I've been wondering, would it be best to just have the side lights come on with the lights themselves or not at all? Got visions of plod thinking I'm driving around with fog lights on?!

You can use 'em as sides, I don't think plod will bother at that brightness.

Are you going to fit an HID kit?
They are WELL worth it in those lights. See my pics here: (post 26)

But if you do, make sure you buy DECENT, not cheap Chinese ones!

I'd be looking at these weatherproof connectors, however many ways as yours wants:

Thanks,

The HID's do look really good, are these ok at MOT time now, if they are only used for main beam do they not fall under the self levelling with washers rule?

Yeah I think the weather proof connectors are the way to go, will be much better. Gonna have to do some measuring up, may as well get the wire/relays etc from there too.

Which HID's?

Both my driving lights and my headlights are now genuine HID.

The self-levelling and washers thing is a figment of someone's imagination. The law, as it stands, states that "any self-levelling device and headlamp washing device MUST work IF FITTED". There is no compunction to fit if they aren't there.

The only way an HID MIGHT fail is if the wrong sort of bulb is fitted into a reflector/lens unit NOT designed for it. Thus, my driving lights are fine, although not tested at MoT, other than to see if they dip when dip is selected. Hella 1000FF made for halogen, but fitted with HID would be the same.

My headlights...well they ARE genuine projectors, but are still inside a clear glass enclosure e-marked for halogen, so it's moot. I'd argue it if it failed, but it hasn't yet, the beam pattern seems to be what they check, and mine is better than standard

HTH.

Your HID's in the picture you linked. Think if I went the HID route I would consider having them on a switch linked into the main beam so I could turn them on and off as required, obviously only when main beam was on and they would need to be inoperable with dipped beam only.

Think there are a few descriptions of how to do it in that thread you linked.

That's how mine are, so I don't flash those at folk in town etc.

Easy enough to do.
