Default Best possible headlight bulb without going HID

Hi all,

What is the best possible bulb I can fit for dip and main beam without going to the hassle of a HID kit.

I've done the obvious search on here, and to be honest it not clear what is the best bulb. I don't want to spend a fortune otherwise I may as well go HID.

Some bulbs that strike me as being good are blue tint Ice whites at around 65w and around 6500k. But this is all gobbledygook to me

Thanks
Rob

Ps I have a Blobeye at the moment

Anything over 6000k is too blue/chavy IMO.
Halfords do some ultra brilliance bulbs at bogof at £25 iirc, great bulbs probably as good as the orsam and piaa ones for a cheaper price.

Xenon-filled isn't the same as HID or Xenon. The former still uses a filament, the latter has a High Intensity Discharge...not a spark, but similar.

Philips Extreme, Halfords Ultra Brilliance, the Osrams mentioned above and Ring 120% uprtaed, available at Amazon, are all worth a look, but the Halfords ones ONLY when on BOGOF.

Iv just put the Ring 120% on mine and the improvement is vast. Think I got the pair for £14 delivered. But any of the above list is good. Mine is also a blob which is the h1 lamp.

I've just put these in my MY11 for the main beam and they do a better job than the original Sylvana bulbs, the beam pattern is more focused and the light is whiter so a better match to the HIDs. Also at the same time put Night Breakers in my wife's Mini and whilst an improvement on the standard candles fitted, I don't think they are as good as the Ring bulbs even though it's not a like for like comparison.

I have used Phillips Blue Vision and they are better than OEM..........not used Osram before.
