Default pulsing?!

Hi all. ive not long had my first scooby n not totally enjoying it at the min. ive had a few probs pop up. i can sort a few but i have an annoying problem. my whole electrics seem to pulse. i think i have a faulty iacv as my revs sit high. on idle sits around 2000rpm that goes down to about 1600. When the revs are at 2000 ish the whole electrical system pulses in time with the engine. When the revs go down to 1600 ish then the pulsing stops. also when the pulsing starts it carries on while.im driving until it settles on its own( normally when idling again tho) the alternator is putting out over 14v n the battery reads about 13v. Any ideas?? All info welcome

What do you mean, the electrical system "pulses in time with the engine"?

If the revs are going ups and down, you can expect alternator output to do likewise, and the more load you have across it, (lights, heated rear windscreen, heater fans, large ICE etc), the more it will be obvious.

The load across the alternator can actually cause a fall in revs too.

Its kinda like the engine having a heartbeat. It doesnt matter if anything is on or not it just pulses a little n every single little lights from dash to sidelights pulse too. ive checked the alternator and battery with a multimeter. the battery says roughy 13v n the alternator when running is 14.3v to 14.7. While this happens my revs go from 1600 to 2000 but when the revs settle randomly at 1600 then all the lights stop flashing. not related to iacv possibly?! also am i right in saying that if it was the alternator then it would stop while im driving
