Default Classic Sidelights

I have recently purchased a classic wagon turbo 2000 MY00. The sidelights are significantly different in colour to the main headlights.

The headlights are white and the side lights are creamy yellow... dull.

I know the sidelights only use a small bulb, however I would imagine they should still be white, like they are on my Blob eye?... or is this normal?

There is no modifications to the electrical system or lights, they are not HID conversions or anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

Replace the bulbs with a W5W aka 501 bulb, see if that's any better?

Out of interest, what are the sidelighjt lenses (the clear plastic on the outside) like? Clear? Ribbed? Yellowed?

It has the standard crystal headlights and the standard slighlty ribbed sidelights. I am going to upgrade them to the crystal style to see if that helps.

Its annoying as its dark more now, when you can see the two different colour lights in the back of someone elses car at a junction.

I know it's not much but it's still a little niggle.

I have tried the 501 bulb (the led one?) before, but it does state on the packet for off road use only.

I've just remembered - I changed my sidelights to 'crystal' several years ago, they are still 'dim' = I just live with it (I do have morettes for headlights tho'...... )

Get some LED sidelights. Have run some on the last four of my cars no problems. They look much whiter and draw less power too. You can get some on Ebay. See linky-
