Default Defi light problem

Hi, I have a small problem with my Defi gauges.

The defi controller lights up and the small red light on the actual gauges also light up. However, the backlight on the defi gauges do not work, so im not able to see them in the dark.

Anything I should be looking for?

Cheers.

Check the wiring to the controller.
Apart from the sender wires, there are FOUR captive wires, (NOT wired in via plugs/sockets).
These are, (or should be):
RED : Permanent live, ie: even when ignition is off.
ORANGE : switched live, only live when ignition is on.
WHITE : Lighting, live when lights are on, (sidelights).
BLACK : earth.

Might simply be that the white wire isn't connected.

Everything is connected mate and I double checked them. The Defi controller unit lights up when I turn the lights on. When the defis start up, the needle lights up, just not the backlight. Its doing my **** in now!

How many defis and are all reacting the same? If so, it's going to be the wiring, trust me.

Get yourself one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAR-CIRCUI...item563a0e4542 and check each wire is actually carrying current as above.

Have they been working and just stopped or have you unplugged anything recently as there are 2 inputs, The CF`s(Clear face) go into input 1 and the BF`s(Black Face) go in to input 2

I believe the backlight used to work (about 3 years ago). They are clear face and I changed from input 1 to input 2 and it made no difference.

I checked the 4 captive wires with a circuit tester and all is fine. With my lights turned on, I disconnected the white wire, which stopped the controller unit from lighting up. However, the gauges do not light up no matter what I do.

Hmmmmmm, might be time to try them on another car with some that work. Not difficult to do.

The LED's that illuminate them CAN be changed but it's not an easy swap, needs some patience to get the gauge open, then soldering skills.

They will be if you are using both inputs as input 2 has a constant light on for the BF gauges so they illuminate during the day, you would need to run them all through input 1 if they are the clear face gauges

Yes but you would probablly need the longer cable to 'daisy chain' them all together depending on where you've got them located.

As above, I have five, three are off the cable to the controller, the other two, on the A-Pillar are daisy chained off the first three using a longer link cable I bought with them, but available off ebay.
