Default Side light problem?

Hi all,

So yesterday I replaced my offside side light in my 54 wrx. No biggy as I did the drivers side not long ago. But today when I looked around the car to check if all the lamps were ok I noticed the one I replaced yesterday was not on!

I've not had the headlight assembly out yet as I was going to see if anyone else had this happen? I'm about to check the fuses but I would assume the whole of the offside lighting is on one fuse? And same for the drivers side? The headlight works fine as do the indicators. Dodgy lamp holder perhaps? Or faulty wiring?

Thanks

Unlikely to be the fuse, but you could look......I RERALLY don't see Subaru providing a fuse for the siodelight on it's own, all 5W of it

More like either a duff new bulb, badly fitted or come loose.

Having had much the same happen with a defective H1 bulb in the wife's Xantia, I now ALWAYS check it works BEFORE rebuilding the light onto the car

I'll take the assembly out again tomorrow and check the lamp and seating.

Yes, put a multimter across the bulb on resistance, should be around 28-30 Ohms.

Yeah its got continuity when I fitted it, and it did work on test so might have just blown after? I'll do a check when I take it out...again!

Unless you fitted it wrong? Or the connectors got damaged pushing it in? Or the connectors are corroded?

Remember the old adage: "If it CAN go wrong, it WILL".

So just defrosting my hands after pulling the headlight apart again, turned the side lights on and worked first time without even re-seating the lamp. I took it out anyway afterwards and gave the connectors a going over and then put it all back together, seems to be fine?! I'll take the car out on some B roads and see if the bumps cause it to go again.

Usual first test for this is hitting the light cluster.

If it works. Job done

Which brings on another old adage: "Have you tried hitting it?"

LOL, Knowing MY luck, giving my light clusters a sharp knock would result in a nice crack.........
