Whats the 3 pin plug for on the back of bugeye headlights?

that was my guess but the connector on the cars loom is completely different shape and doesnt fit thou

That definitely looks like the headlight adjustor plug as blu mentioned.

just to be different, classic headlight adjusters have square plugs with more than three wires

its the head light adjuster plug, on jdm models you may find they are used, as with many manufacturers they use the same castings for lights etc but dependant on which country the car is bound for depends on what is used.

Oh dear I've got a UK car so any ideas where I can get pigtails or the plug to fit?

If you're fitting jdm lights to a UK car you need a different switch and harness for the levelling. Do you tow a lot - if not you won't need the adjustment.

when you tow the front of the car lifts up so you are supposed to adjust the lights down.
