Default horn

ok so i have a works bell boss kit on my bugeye and it has 2 connectors underneath the push horn in centre of steering wheel and there is one connector coming from boss kit woring for the horn, i have it connected to the centre connector which is right for the horn, but it only works when the other connector is touching the inside steel of the boss kit?? if it's not the horn does not work when pushed, there are no other wires from the boss kit and it should just work, why is this?? is this some sort of earth problem?? im not that hot with wiring

I think that your problem is earthing it.

IIRC the horn works by EARTHING when the horn push is pressed, so you need to connect that wire to a permanent earth and it should be OK.

Some horn pushes have piece of sprung metal coming out of the side that once the horn is fitted it provides the earth - that's how mine worked

Strange, it almost sounds like you have the wrong horn push for your car. I have a spare with a single connector which is what you need - PM me your address and I can post it to you

What metal does it touch? If it's some that is then insulated by being mounted on plastic, it won't work.

The metal normally touches the inside of the boss on the Works Bell which is a continuous piece of metal onto the spline of the steering column so earthing should not be a problem. I have the same boss

removed it on mine too, the horn fits better as well IMHO - but even with the spacer that should still be metal on metal
