Default Indicator Problem

My indicators have developed an annoying fault.

They work fine then after a while they will stop working. If I pull over turn the engine off and set then dis arm the alarm all is fine again.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Stop working? As in not come on at all? Come on but too fast? Refuse to go off?

You need to be more specific, BUT:

If resetting the alarm rests the problem, I'd guess at the alarm BEING the problem

If not, try replacing the flasher relay, it's high up under the dash on a classic, driver's side.

Best way to find it is feel up there, set flashers going and feel which one is ticking. It's VERY hard to see AND feel at the same time;(

sorry for not making myself clear they come on and stay on - don't flash - just light up.

I was afraid it might be the alarm but does not make sense as they work then stop.

Will have a feel for the relay - Its a bugeye but guess the relay will be in the same place when they are working I can hear the click from the dash.

Need to know which relay before I buy on to try eliminating the problem.

Ah.......coming on and STAYING on does, indeed, point at the relay.

I'm not sure where the relay IS on a 2002 car, mine's under the dash as above, but it's easy enough to replace and any carshop will carry spares, they are a fairly standard fitting

IF it IS under the dash, start by looking, then FEEL for whichever one is clicking, and pull it down, before disconnecting.

BTW: When the indicators stick on, does switching on the hazards cure it? If so, it's definitely the relay
