Default Positive lead on car battery loom too short

Just tried to fit a new battery and the positive lead is about 3 inch's too short and will not stretch to the terminal. The only difference with the new battery is that the terminals are on the opposite end . Is there anything i can do? - i tried turning the battery 90/180 degrees with no luck - before anyone asks!
Am i missing something obvious here? Is it possible to just get and extension on the lead?
cheers

I would if i could, but it came with the car, so i'd have to take the car back as well, but i think it's a bit too late for that.

I could rephrase the question. If i change the positive lead for a longer one, how easy is it to detach and reattach it from the back of the engine/starter solenoid? - before i pull something off that is not meant to be pulled off.

You'd have to strip the cables to get back to where the leads need to go to, for all the labour you'll pay, or have to do yourself, it just doesn't seem worth it ?

What car is this on?

I just can't understand how you can say that "It is the right battery", and that, "It came with the car"?
It either fits, or it doesn't.

If it doesn't, how did it "come with the car"?

TBH, each cfar is made with a loom that fits it's battery. If you buy a new battery FOR THAT CAR, it WILL fit. End of.

If you had the correct battery it would fit in perfect with the terminals in the correct position so the leads would reach, maybe stick up a pic of this battery with the leads that won't reach.

You have the wrong battery.
The terminals are the wrong way round for your car.
See here The Battery Guys - SUBARU CAR BATTERIES
You could adapt the wiring but it's easier to do as everyone says and get the right battery.

the terminal layouts as shown in the diagrams on the link are exactly as they are on the battery i want to fit. It's a Banner 'starting bull' lightweight battery, - for my Spec C. Looks like i need a Justy or a Forrester battery lol as the terminals are the opposite way around
