Default Which Wire????

Hi, In need of a little help please. The alarm/Immobiliser fitted to my 93 WRX (Falcon Predator Evo4 v2) was fitted when I borght it and has never operated fully, so as I have had time on my hands i thought I'd try and crack it, which I nearly have but for 1 wire and its driving me The installation manual/note read as:

RPM AND ALTERNATOR CONNECTIONS
You should connect the alternator connection (C4-3) or the RPM connection (C4-1), there is no need to connect both. Usually the alternator connection is more reliable.
Alternator Connection: Usually connected to the the battery light on the dash, connect to the side that is NOT ignition live.
RPM connection: The wire you connect to will read between 1 and 6 volts AC, and increases with the rpms when the accelerator is pressed.

Now I only need to locate 1 of the 2, I have the vehicle wiring diagrams but it does not seem to show any wire colours or polarity. So can anyone please help me out and tell me either of the wires I need to locate, either colour or location would be fantastic.

Many Thanks In Advance, Steve.

sounds like its asking for the sense wire on alternator which would bring up battery light on dash if say alternator was not charging or no belt fitted.

will have a browse through wiring diagram see what i can find out.

rpm signal wire i would leave alone as you might get issues on rpm reading. so alternator route sounds best.

can't find decent wiring diagram of the alternator circuit so can't confirm wire colour.
but the rpm output on the ecu is plug
B96 terminal 16 (see pic below)

why exactly does the alarm need this wired up? you can splice into the rpm wire if your carefull just make sure your not getting false readings on rev counter.

Thanks for that. It needs it to enable the remote start and the turbo timer! As you and the install guide say it would be better to use the alternator connection. My wiring diagrams are different to yours, is there any chance i can send you what i have for you to have a a scan through, you obviously understand them, which is more than i do

thats same info from the full manual pdf steve

shows the alternator having 3 wires one of which goes to ignition + (black and white wire)
main feed to main relay is white then a blue/red wire going to headlight relay

diagram on that manual are tricky to trace through would be easier to trace on the actual car.
let me check wiring diagram on instrument cluster might be easier

Damn your good Thats 3 for me to go at tomorrow, but as you say if the ones on the instument cluster can
be located then that really would nail it.

instrument cluster diagram is pretty crap too
i would do like the instructions say if you want to wire it to the battery warning light.

so u need to remove the instrument cluster and work out which wires are for the warning lamp then find the - wire not the ignition live.

check pages 43 and 44 of your wiring manual may help looks like you need C5 (look at page 43 to show where C5 is) but it does not tell u on diagram if thats the ignition wire so u need to test that wire as a starter.
