A while ago I posted that I'd smashed one of the headlights on my UK300 (motorway stone ). I had it replaced on Saturday at my 15K service. £289!!! **** me, I had to be helped up off the floor! Is it me or is that damn expensive? This was just ONE of the glass lights within the cluster.

Can't remember who it was but one of you asked me to let you know how much it was, what do you think to that?

Sounds like thay have replaced the whole lamp unit. I remember speaking to a dealer who said they were now able to sell UK300 headlamps, spoilers etc, and I'm sure the price was about £500 or £600 for a pair.

Make sure you protect your new ones with Subaru healamp protectors!
They're easy to fit yourself, and only cost about £30 for a pair.

I had UK300 (WR Prodrive Headlights) fitted to MY02 and they only cost £360 fitted for the pair from Subaru Main Dealer, £285 does seem a bit steep.

Question

Not sure about protectors but you could use Armourfend. I used to have this on my old Scoob (MY00) - you could buy it direct from your dealer cut to size. Not sure if they are doing the same thing for the new cars, but it shouldn't be too difficult to buy a sheet of the stuff and cut it to size. I was thinking about doing this with my Morrettes.

In the MY02 accessories brochure I have, WR Sport twin headlamp kit part number SACC2522 (they are the UK300 design) are £599.95, so I believe the price you were charged is about right for one unit. Over £600 fitted I reckon - ouch

Seamus - was me who asked - ever wish you hadn't asked a question

Steep is not the word - looking at the rest of the posts it's probably worth double checking the charge !

if cut carefully you can do a good job yourselves - there was a place that cut to all sorts of shapes to order but can't remember their name to save meself tho...

Unhappy

I'm pretty sure they have only replaced 1 lens and not the whole unit. I'm sure it's not the dealer though (Simpsons in Swindon) they have always been very good to me in the past. Sales guy in there was saying that Subaru make a far wedge from after market/spares sales.. Not suprised!

With the other bits I had done (Gauges fitted, WR Grill and Gills (thanks for the ideas *Rum), Mudflaps (£30 a corner, on the floor again!!)) plus the service it was a fair wedge.

Those mesh Driving light covers are now on the urgent list...

Sorry I got price wrong, I am not sure how much they were as I had a lot of extras fitted when I purchased the car and I got a very good deal. It was Monksheath if you want to try them.

They are a standard Hella projector lamp. Any Hella stockist would be able to supply one and I would have thought £100 would be about right, plus fitting.

For that money, they could have replaced the entire unit behind the mask and fitted it.
