OK, are they actually driving lights, or foglights? The OE Subaru lights were foglights: they have many vertical glass bars down the inside of the lenses, and the name, SUBARU, on the lenses.

Does your car have a front foglight switch? Is it on? Is it stuck on?

If you do actually have driving lights, (Probably branded Cibie, or PIAA on that model), you can convert them to be on with main beam by the addition of a relay. It's NOT worth doing with fogs

Ask if you need details.

thats the lights but i do not have a switch for them they are (i guess) wired straight onto the lights. if they have to be with the lights i would prefer it only on high beam.

You'd have to remove one, in order to trace the wiring back, an d see what the previous owner has done. He might have done it via a relay, or, (hopefully not) straight off the headlight wiring.

See if you can find a relay in the wiring, and I can give you directions for connecting it up to do as you want.

Just out of interest, I don't suppose the lights go OUT if you select main beam, do they?
