The Way i read it is as follows:

RED - ACC (ie switched +Ve for the accessory line which i guess will light up the gauge).
BLACK - GND (Ground)
GREEN - Signal (from Oil Sender Unit)
WHITE - +Ve (Permanent +Ve supply)

On the Oil sender unit, make sure that the can / chassis of it is properly connected to Ground.

It will need this as a reference for the Signal voltages being sent to the Gauge.

DO NOT rely on the connection of the sender unit onto the engine block for grounding on its own.

I recommend you get a tester and make sure you have a good continuity of earth on the cans outer casing. If not, scratch a small area away on the can (exposing the non-anodised metal) and solder a designated GND wire straight to the can then connect the other end to the -Ve on the battery or another suitable grounding point on the vehicles chassis.

This is generally the most common problem on these types of units, bad grounding on the sender unit.

Hope this helps.

i have oil pressure swoosh on mine also, but only had 3 wires, my latest addition was the air/fuel which was four wires, all of mine are wired in behind the radio on a non permenant feed. why power gauges when the engines off?

red and white can be joined up together and wired in a single feed to a ign on source with out any problems.

green on swoosh gauges is always signal and black is always ground.
