Question Headlight protectors for MY05 WRX

After a recent incident with a rather large stone and my windscreen I've started to worry about the vulnerability of my front head lights.

If they are hit by a stone is it possible to replace the front glass or would I be looking at a complete head light?

What options do I have for headlight protectors for this car?

Subaru UK sell 2 types - Headlamp Cover & Headlamp Cover 3D Carbon Fibre.
The website shows only a picture of the non Carbon Fibre effect version but I'm not too sure about the black clips at the top which look like they stick up in front of the bonnet. Could someone post a better picture if they've got them fitted?
I've asked about them at 2 Subaru dealers but neither had seen them in the flesh and only had the web picture to go by.

Apart from the Subaru versions are there any other options available?

Thanks for any information you can give.

Got the clear ones on mine
Had one cracked by a stone so had to replace.

Of course I will never know if the same stone would of cracked the headlight but still cheaper to replace the cover than the whole light.

The metal clip hooks onto the edge under the bonnet and then screws to the top of the cover and hangs down in front of the cover so does not stick up above the bonnet. Looks allright to me.

Also bought them for the fogs (stable door job though new fog light cost me 70 quid)

Mulf, thanks for the info.

Maybe I'm looking at this wrong but I'm still unsure about black clips. The picture on subaru.co.uk looks like the clips stickup in front of the bonnet rather than as you described.

Have you a picture you could post of yours fitted?
If not does the picture on subaru.co.uk (link in my original post) actually look right to you?

Thanks for the pictures, I appreciate it.

You're right they do look ok. Nothing like the picture on subaru.co.uk. Have you checked it out because it don't look right to me.

I'll speak to my local dealer and see about getting some.

I've just realised, I think the picture on subaru's site also shows a bonnet guard fitted. It's hard to see (maybe it's me) but that's where the clips on the bonnet come from.
What a c#@p picture!

see what you mean

If you closely at the pic on the suburu website you can make out the central single screw that holds it in place

I have no idea what the other 2 marks on the bonnet are either side reflection or something maybe, does look odd though.

have seen these on other cars looks just the same as mine (never seen the carbon fibre look ones though) why don't you get them to get both sets in so you can choose

I think the picture must show some kind of bonnet guard. Before you posted your pictures I'd been searching all over the web and did find reference to a bonnet guard in the US.
Good idea about seeing if they'll get both versions in. My nearest dealership is about 20-30 miles round trip from me so want to get it right 1st time.
cheers
