Default MY03 Driving light conversion, any alternative to the £325 ones from Subaru ?

As above, has anybody found a good alternative to the expensive PIAA ones on the Subaru site for the MY03 WRX,I know that PIAA are very good from my previous classic , just wondering if they are really worth it I guess .

I had PIAA fitted from new and I'd say that they fill out the main beam (which is pretty good on MY05 WRX) rather than adding dramatically either to the amount of light or to the range. Opinions seem to differ on this, so others might think differently...

Have thought about this one myself for a while now.
The only thing I've seen is the PIAA WRC HID lamps which are the same dia (130mm) but very expensive (£803.25 + VAT) but they could be a better bet by what abc is saying.
Not sure about the mounting of them though as I've yet to get my fogs out to have a look, but as the Subaru kit uses PIAA they might be the same.

Nick.

I fitted the Prodrive PIAA kit on my classic. Great lights but the kit is over priced. If your mounts are anything like mine, the conversion is a piece of flat steel plate cut to shape and a relay with some wiring parts that didn't fit.
If I was doing the conversion again, I would buy the lights, make my own mounts & wiring and save myself a lot of money.

Thumbs up

As most of my driving is done on dip I opted to fit a full Zenon HID kit to the dip beam on my MY03. It transforms the lighting performance on dip and helps a lot on main beam as well. I set the lights a little high and normally run them on setting 1. If I'm in a hurry and using main beam I lift them a little to setting 0 and this works really well and doesn't get flashed on dip.

My kit (Philips bulbs and ballasts) came from HID-Online.com in Chester on 01244 881961 for about £275 and I fitted them myself. They were very helpful.

This is the route I would recommnd.

Francis
