Angry Dashboard Illumination

I have 95 WRX. I lost the dash illumination and also the lighting behind the heater controls etc. 10 amp fuse in interior blows immediately you switch the lights on. Any help would be appreciated.

Had the car in at SC and after a fair bit of searching they found a couple of wires that had been rubbing and were down to the wire and touching, behind the dash somewhere, all sorted now

Eventually got the fuse to stop blowing as soon as you switch the lights on but only after removing dash, checking all wires I could see and replacing dash. However this was a pure fluke as I didnt find any evidence of rubbed wires or shorts. Thought that was the end of problem.......wrong will now blow fuse at random. Conclusion is the is a short somewhere and bumps in road etc can cause fuse to go. Solution is a pocket full of 10amp fuses. Sorry I cant be of any more help and if anyone has the answer. It would be appreciated.

Talking Result

Eventually found short. Removed radio and CD player from centre console. Where wiring loom for radio, cd, etc. dissappears towards glove box area there is a metal bracket that supports dash with nasty sharp edge on it. This was shorting and causing fuse to blow. Insulating tape bit of solder and its now sorted.

Excellent, glad you got there in the end, must have been costing you a small fortune in fuses
