Default PIAA lights question

I have the (Prodrive) PIAA driving lights, but one of the seals seems to have failed resulting in the silvering of the reflector failing, and now the bulb has blown.
I need a replacement unit and was looking on www.piaa.co.uk and was stumped by the vast array of options.
I'm assuming the lamp is an 80 Series one, but not sure if it's "plain" 80, 80 Pro, or 80 XT. Then there's the lens. I'm assuming it's the "driving" pattern, but can anyone confirm?
Cheers.

According to the PIAA site, you can get an 80 series "PRO" lamp, or an 80 series "XT" lamp, but there's no mention of a "PRO XT" lamp, unless this is bespoke Prodrive only model.

Difference between the Pro and the XT is that the Pro uses a dippable H4 bulb, whilst the XT uses a main beam-only H3 bulb.

Mungo - if your lamps have H3 bulbs, I'd argue that they're XT units.

Cheers chaps.
Thought I might try PIAA first and see if they'll just sell me a new reflector and seal.

Dave is Correct My PIAAs arrived today and as Dave said, the box is clearly marked PRO XT and they have H3 bulbs. PIAA will be referred to the Ministry of Confusing Labelling to have their cards marked

Question PIAA wiring loom

A question to all who have these lights fitted - How many of you have used the included PIAA wiring loom and switch??

The reason I ask is that I spent ages wiring the old Cibies up just so and was hoping to just plug the new PIAAs directly into thie existing cabling, which I know is sound.

Sure, the PIAA loom will look a little neater and the PIAA switch would be a bit of a novelty, but are there any other benefits to be gained from using the PIAA bits??

Cheers

Kev

I plan to do the same, but wiring the Cibies took so much thought, planning and effort that it's heartbreaking to think about doing it all over again. What makes things worse is that the PIAA wiring instructions aren't the clearest - not to a bloke who knows nothing about car electrics, anyway .

Any idea where I might find clear step-by-step instructions???

Just my 2p's worth ,
I found the PIAA kit easy to fit and I'm usless with all but basic wiring.

The only benifits I could see were
1. Easy to fit.
2. Everthings there - relays, wires at the correct length etc
3. The bung that connects the PIAA 's to the back of your light assy / bulb, weather proofs everthing preventing corrosion.

If your were to DIY, don't forget things like mounting brackets, as theses are bespoke to Scoobs.

I bought mine second hand (still like new) so got a bargin, wether I'd pay £300 for a kit is debatable but the result is amazing and I don't know how a saw the road prior to fitting.

Question

If you've already got a decent wiring loom that feeds your Cibies, why would you want to totally remove it to fit another for PIAAs?

I assume this is on the same car?

Surely, all you HAVE to do is to remove the Cibies, and fit the PIAAs? Although you MAY have to change the connector at the end of the feed wires TO the PIAA's, and ensure the new PIAAs get a decent earth.

All my lights are fitted using two pole interlocking connectors from Vehicle Wiring Products, with all connectors soldered, then taped against water ingress using non-sticky tape, (loom tape). I can now remove and refit my lights in seconds....................and before anyone says it, you have to have the correct security tool to do it

no reason to use the piaa one if you have built your own and it also earths the lights back to the battery , It`s not that good and AFAIR has no fuse ?
Have a good one
Tim
ps why not contact the ebay seller and see if he wants a loom for his piaa`s / the buyer of them
