Detango front headlamps bugeye
Thinking of detangoing my front headlamps on my WRX bugeye. Done a search and there's lots of talk of cooking your headlamps. But I don't think I want to go that far. Do I just need to remove the orange cover and replace the indicator bulbs with silvertec style ones?

Yep you just need to remove the orange cover - thats why you have to bake the light unit in the oven as to get to the cover you have to open the light unit which is sealed - i was gonna do this but bottled out :-(

Pussies Just wack the lights in the oven guys, honestly it is not difficult and you don't even need to baste them
When I did mine I used a bit of extra sealant to make sure it was water tight when putting them back together. Best modification for £15

I may have a pair for sale soon if you are interested and do not want to do it yourself. Let me know.

What additional selant did you use?

Lowest heat possible, 10 mins. Try another 5 if that does not work. Be careful not to touch anything inside the lamp when it is apart. Simply re-heat to join back together. I did not use sealant and not had condensation problems or anything.
Be aware it stinks out the kitchen, so choose a weekend when the wife is down the mother inlaws!

Done this yesterday to my bugeye, wasn't keen on baking them, so I just took the headlights off the car and managed to break the orange part in to small pieces through the hole where the indicator bulb goes. Easy job
