Question

Can someone please clarify the types of bulbs for a MY99. i.e. Sidelights, Headlights and PIAA spots.

From reading the other PIAA posts, I think the PIAA spots are H3 and the headlights are H4. Is this correct? Also what wattage can be installed in the sidelights and hedalights?

Thanks
Stefan

side - 5w capless, can't remember type.

Head - H4

PIAA - if fitted - H3. Cibies are H2.

Max side 5w, head 150w (at your risk - not sure if Emarked), PIAA spots 120w.

Thumbs up

Cheers Dave.

Picked some bulbs up from Halfords today:-

Sidelights - HBU501 12v 5w - £1.39 pair
Headlights - 472B 12v 60/55w - £9.99 each
Spotlights - HBU492 12v 130w - £4.99 each !!

I've had loads of problems with my spots blowing bulbs (although haven't tried the vibration cure yet), so at £4.99 per bulb (originals £18) it might save a small fortune.

I've a few more questions:-

1. Has anyone any experience of these?
2. How easy is it to replace the side/head lights?
3. Do I need to get the beam alignment checked after changing the bulbs? If so, which ones - I guess the sidelights would be OK.
4. Will changing the sidelights get rid of that cra**y yellow tint?

Thanks again,
Stefan

Question

I too have been thinking about changing the sidelights to whiter and brighter items. Has anyone upgraded the sidelights, so they are actually become lights and not dim candles. If so what to, where and how much?

PIAA do SuperWhite sidelights (the 5w capless ones that Dave mentioned). Should cost you about 8 quid a pair. I changed mine to match the PIAA headlights that I use as it looked a bit daft having white headlights and yellow sidelights

Dave I bow to your money saving genius

Just fitted a nice set of Raceline RL-7s (in anthracite not gold ) - very nice with S02PPs.

Cheers

Fitted PIAA superwhites to headlights, expensive at £50. I got really pissed off with white headlights and yellow sidelights as it just looked so crap.
So fitted PIAA superwhite sidelights at £8 a pair. Much better, got mine from Graham Goode.
Changing the bulbs is fairly straight forward, although you have to be a bit firm with the sidelights.
