MY99 UK car

N/s side light bulb blown. I have had a look at the back of the light unit, looks like it should pull out, can't budge it and did not want to force it and break anything.
The coolant filler is right behind it so difficult to get the right purchase on it.

Does it just pulll out or am i missing the point here?

There's a screw on the top, if you mean light unit. Twist the bulb holder to remove.

Undo the screw and then apply a *little* force to remove the lens. Should do the job.....well it did with mine

MMmmm I had to replace both of mine in quick succession, found the nearside a doddle to remove but managed to break the "lug" on the offside using a little force, still holds in fine though ....

Thumbs down

I had problem changing the drivers side one.

Undid the screw and then tried to "pull" it out. Yeah, right. Couldn't get any purchase at all.

Managed to wangle a piece of wood dowel behind it and pushed from behind also.

Wouldn't want to have to change them too often, as the plastic lugs seem rather brittle.

But if I wanted well made, I'd have bought a Merc, right?

My nice friendly dealer did it for me FOC when the car was there, gone to collect Plastic boot liner, they noticed it was out and changed it.

Good on 'em

Just did this on mine, nearside came out fine. Drivers side, nightmare, appeared stuck then popped out with an expensive plastic snapping sound. Basically there is a metal ball joint which is meant to pop out of the plastic holder it is in. On my car, the plastic holding the metal ball joint snapped all around the ball joint!

Doh!

Slightly off topic ... I've ended up having to change the o/s side light bulb three times in the last two months ... each time they keep getting gradually dimmer over a period of weeks until they eventually blow. Needless to say the light unit now pops out rather easily after repeated removal. Anyone any ideas on why the bulbs might be blowing?
