Fitted Halfords xenon bulbs yesterday, but drove it for the first time at night today. The lights are now a lot brighter than the originals were (not difficult), but now are pointing in the wrong place!

My dipped headlights are focussed a few feet in front of the car, on their highest setting (centre console ****). Cannot drive over 40mph as I can't see far enough to be safe!
If I twist the **** (ouch) to the lowest setting; the tyres get lit up!

Is there a special sequence to follow with the centre console light adjuster **** and bulb fitment??? I think it was set on its highest (fully clockwise) when I stuck the bulbs in.

Could be the bulbs are rotated 180 degrees, but shouldn't be as I was careful to place them in so that the rear connector is the same way up as the orginal ones.

Car is MY95 uk saloon and hi beams are fine.

Anyway, before I go tinkering around again, would appreciate any advice to save a bit of time.

ta

You can't fit them upside down but you will find that you have not seated them correctly and/or locked them in to the lamp mounting correctly. Have another go in good daylight and look where they locate.

Wiggle them about once locked in; if they move substantially, they are still not seated/locked in correctly.

Sorry have been off-line for a bit as my laptop was "at the menders". University required a complete re-install of BIOS, Win98 etc. etc.

Bulb problem solved, per Mike's suggestion. Reckon Xenon bulbs are a significent improvement esp. when it's pi55ing down like this evening.

"Pilching" was thankfully not a problem.

Thanks for all the help guys!

Question

'Lo,

now I have read these articles on how difficult this mod is, I have to have it!

Are these bulbs a direct replacement for the standard ones?

Do you know how much they cost (approx) ?

Cheers!
