Where's my electrickery going?
#1
Hi Folks,
Just returned to the car (MY94 turbo) after leaving it for a week to a flat battery. This has happened twice now and before you ask... no I didn't leave anything on. Does anyone know of common electrical problems in this MY? What should I check first?
Also when the car is working well the windscreen wipers will still operate without the ignition turned on. Weird!
Any advice on how to diagnose these problems gratefully received!
Cheers

How old is your battery?
ie is it holding its charge.
Is the battery being charged?
ie is the alternator working correctly?
If the battery and alternator are working correctly then you are draining current somewhere.
Do you have an alarm?
My fathers car had a laserline alarm which developed a leak to earth. During day to day driving it never caused a problem but when the car was left for a week the battery discharged.
Any competent auto electrician should be able to check your battery, alternator and if there are any leaks to earth.
If your battery is the original (5 years old) I'd change it anyway.
