Rear fog light on import - advice needed.
#1
Most rear fog lights on import imprezas look awful because they are big and look crap hung beneath the rear bumper.
I've noticed people have started intergrating them into one of the reversing lights. Even on Classic STis (the type with clear/red rear lenses). Is this an easy mod?
Also, I've noticed that some have a small 3rd brakelight flush with the underside of the rear bumper which looks more subtle. Where can one buy one of these from?

Hi Nick,
MY99 Sti came with a crap rear fog light hanging under the bumper aswel, the first thing i did was removed the driver side reverse light bulb and replaced it with a red LED cluster bulb (Multiple red LED's), costing £9.99.
To connect it up cut the reverse light positive wire off the bulb holder and connect the positive wire from your crap rear fog light to the back of the reverse light/now fog light holder. Job done.

Nick,
The LED custer bulb I purchased was made by Savage, I dont think Halfrauds (Halfords) sell them. I got mine from a local car parts place.
You could try typing LED & SAVAGE in to a search engine, or maybe nip down the local shop and scan through one of the boy racer magazines...

My cousins STI V has a neat solution. The fog lamp is cut into the rear bumper with a neat small palstic surround. looks like it was meant to be there, very neat work,

I have the converted reversing light option on my car. I am not too sure as to the legality of this (not to mention not being able to see what is behing me when reversing in the dark), as the lens is clear.
However when watching the rally on Sunday, I noticed the Scoobs had the brake light integral with the sidelight, whereas on my car they are separate. So what about the unused 21w filament becoming the fog light?
Ford have used this method, so must be Kosher
Edited to say it works, I now have two fog lamps, 2 reversing lamps, and no crappy lights hanging from my bumper
