Fuel gauge stuck on half!

Filled the car up today from nearly empty, to full and got 43litres in there, but the gauge is only reading half full! Could the float in the tank be stuck? Anyone had similar probs?

Mine does it now and then. Completely random readings for a while and then clears itself. I'll have a look at the float one day.
In the meantime i reset the trip every time i fill up so that i know to start looking for fuel at 250 miles.

Mine quite regularly drops to nout then back up and down been meaning to look at it for a while but now just keep an eye the milage about 180 then fill up
