Anybody else suffered a complete battery failure on their STi8?

The car is stuck in the garage at the moment with no physical means of getting it out. Can't even pop open the bonnet to jump start it 'cos there's a cupboard in the way.

Yes!

First happened about 6 weeks ago - took it back to the dealer and they replaed the battery. Then it happened again last weekend after only leaving it for 4 days!

Going to take it back there next week to g tthem to diagnose it properly - could be something shorting out.

You DROVE into your garage? It is truly lamentable, the way the old driving skills like reversing are being allowed to lapse. Whatever happened to the fine example set by Reginald Molehusband of the 1970's public information films? Like Robert the Bruce's spider he tried and tried until he got it right! And now you've got to demolish your cupboard! I'm going out to Practice Parallel Parking (is that what PPP stands for?)again. Now where did I put my tan leather driving gloves and flat cap?

Just got mine back from the dealer - another duff battery! How unlucky/likely is that?

Apparently the new Imprezas have some sort of special alternator that doesn't charge the battery on idle - only when under load, which made the recovery bloke from Subaru Assist think it was an alternator problem.

I used to have a small solar charger I used on the TVR,
got it off their website 2/3 years back, but it went with the car.
can't remember what the company was called, but think they are still available.

Took 3 people to roll the car out by the wheels.

Subaru assist came out and got me started. Can't seem to track down problem. Been to local dealer who tried to track down the problem, no luck. Car is now working but for how much longer?!

... and yes i do drive in to my garage, there is only 4 inchs each side of car and 1 inch on the front. I've screwed pieces of wood to act as wheel guides so that i stop exactly 1cm from the wall. Have just enough room to squeeze out of the drivers door (have to fold in mirrors too!). I can't reverse in because the spoiler would hit the cupboard first which is located on the wall in front!!!

I have an STI 7 and went on my holidays to Australia for a month and came back and my car started on the first turn.

Thank God.

Same here my STi8 battery went flat when I was skiing for 10 days then again after a weeks holiday recently, and this time I'd put the alarm on power save mode! When I went to take it out and recharge it properly and completely, I found the earth cable nut wasn't that tight (are they disconnected before delivery?). I am hoping it is just that but reading the other messages above if it happens again I'll get the dealer/pimp to get a new one!

Happened on tuesday after 9 days away (6 month old car).

took it to dealer on wednesday and they said battery ok etcetcetc.

guy who came out to jump start said he'd seen it plenty and most times they can't spot any issues.

not sure what to do apart from wait for it to happen again.
