Is my battery dying?
#1
UK MY99 Impreza, car starts OK, but quite often alarm chirps when cranking car over, but car does start OK.
Reason I am asking, is that I spoke to someone else with similar symptom, and now his battery has died totally and car would not start.
Does anyone have any similar experience, as I am thinking of buying new battery before I end up in similar position.
Or is it just a coincidence that (or a "feature") that the alarm chirps occasinally when starting. Thinking that if battery is on its way out, then voltage may drop momentarily under high load (i.e starting engine) causing alarm to chirp (fault?), then recovers OK..... until it may finally fail.
Thanks
Graham

Graham,
It's definatley the battery on its last legs.
Mine alarm chirped for a couple of weeks then the car wouldn't start.
Jump leads got it going - ok for a week then dead again !
Change it b4 you get stranded.
Mine was £50 with a 3 yr guarantee, got it from a local parts supplier.

OK Thanks
Dropped into Half**ds today, and their electronic battery tester showed only 192AH and change battery warning (Should be 400AH according to their info for std Impreza battery).
Went for a hi power 585AH battery as it was only about £4 more than the standard @(£48), has a 4 year guarantee
