At night when i have my head lights on should my heated rear window switch light up so i know where it is ie to press the damn thing ?

If so, i am guessing the bulb has blown or is the switch faulty

Anyone know what type of bulb/switch it is and where i can get one from ?

Or do i just go to the dealers.

Only had her 2 weeks MY99 car

Regards

Same happened my fog light switch. You can get a new bulb from your dealer and just replace it. No need for a new switch.

Don't think the bulb can be bought for the heated screen switch, it's inside the switch meaning it has to be dismantled and a new bulb connected up to it. Quite fiddly and definitely not intended for self replacement.

TBH I think Subaru will tell you to buy a new switch because there's no bulb listed on the parts system for it either (unlike the foglight switches which are little screw bulbs which can be replaced in seconds).

Go to Maplin and buy the smallest 12V bulb listed (it has two wires coming from it a bit like an LED) and you can replace it yourself if you can get the switch open and back together.

Just remembered, I was actually thinking of the hazard switch when I wrote that. Suspect the heated screen switch might be the same though, take it out and have a look - if there's no obvious bulb screwed into the side or anything then it's the same as the hazard switch described above.

Took the switch out and its just a very tiny bulb which slides on and off.

Went to subaru and you cant buy the bulb.

The switch costs £75.

Ouch !!!

Any ideas as i aint paying that just so i can see it in the dark.

I went to the local model shop and bought some "grain of wheat" bulbs - they fit all the switches and cost about 20p

Go to maplin and buy the smallest 12V bulb in the catalogue. You'll find the bulb that slides off is actually one of those kind of bulbs with the wires wrapped in that rubber holder. Just remove the old bulb and fit the new one to the rubber thing in the same way and slide it back onto the switch.

Really easy and costs buttons!
