Default Classic reverse lights

I have a 1997 UK Turbo 2000

Reverse light stopped working years ago, intermittently then off i.e bulb are fine.

I figured it was the switch on the gearbox and lived happily without, I have just changed the box but its not returned, bulbs are still OK.

Anyone any idea where the weak point is? Connector to gearbox. BTW new box is later 6 bolt versus 4 bolt type. Possibly dedicated earth at back of car?

I can continue to live without it but kinda hoped a replacement box would sort it out.

Cheers

Seems obvious, but you don't mention it,
Have you checked the fuse in the fuse/relay box by the drivers right knee? Fuse No1

If it isn't the fuse it could be the 'reverse position switch' I think its called. If they swapped your gearbox they might have used the same switch. Its about £30+ from ICP.

Another weak area are the bulb holders.
Make sure you gave power to them. If not, just follow the circuit back.
