Default check engine light 99 uk turbo

ok folks on the way home from my meet the other night the check engine light came on and wouldnt go off got home and and left it for a bit and started the car again same again. Wednesday morning checked it and light was off

Had it checked today no fault code recorded, or showing up. Heading home tonight from lisburn light came on again, flashed on and off a few times but stayed on mostly. Only seems to be doing it after being on the go for a while.

Has anyone any ideas, nothing seems to be loose, and i have a fuel filter enroute.

Try resetting the ECU and then reading the fault codes again.

How to here:

Also, check oil level...might be due to oil thinning out when warm, then dropping below required level...bringing check light on, sometimes happens when driving in a "spirited" manner or up inclines............

Would low oil level not bring on the oil warning light.

I think I read somewhere that it was possible to have the CEL light act as a knock indicator - I think it was maybe using a Simtec aftermarket ecu, or some other type of plug in box of tricks. I have been trying to find the info this evening but can't. Can anyone confirm having heard the same or similar comments???

I knew i'd seen it somewhere... Could be the CEL light being used as a shift lamp, or knock indicator, but only if Simtec or Apexi EMS has been installed.

Simtec ECU's.... Anyone heard of them?? - Subaru Impreza Forum - WRX STI Rally Performance Tuning

Glad you're sorted...nothing worse than a new car doing something "weird" to take the shine off it....

Time to enjoy it now
