Default equal length manifold?

i'm thinking of purchasing an equal length manifold before the mapping next week.

can any1 give me some advise on this? what will be the main benefits? i'm assuming torque and possibly throttle response? i know i'll loose the subaru burble but i'm not to worried about that......

were can they be purchased from and how much are u talking roughly?

my car is a 02 wrx with a sti version 5 short motor..... oh and its an ecutek map

also if any1 can throw up a sound clip or vid of a standardish car with equal length would be appreciated

There are very very few equal length manifolds available. Plenty of tubular options though. People seem to wrongly call them equal length though.

Do not buy the cheap crap with the flexi up pipe that is joined to the tubular section with no flange.. They fit like **** all, and the flexi will fail.

The better ones now have a 3 bolt flange for the up-pipe, instead of the old 2 bolt.
Better again if you can get a set with a slip jointed cross pipe from side to side, to allow for expansion. A lot of the cheaper versions dont have this. Not essential, but nice to have.

Hayward and Scott would obviously make good sets, at a price. But some of cheaper versions available all over the net will do fine, if you avoid the ones I mention above.

On an otherwise standard car, std turbo etc...probably not much point TBH.

Throw a decent system, bigger turbo, and have it mapped to suit etc, then yes, they are better. More so at the top end.

just got the scoobyclinic headers and up-pipe fitted(slighlty unequal) made 36lb ft torque and 17bhp after a map. AI done the work for me and if they are mapping your car again why not speak to phil about it.

They do lose a little of the Subaru sound....but they will also kill a bit of the typical drone at 70mph or so....which is a good thing.
