Default P1 or Type r ??

Hi lads , going to be upgrading the scooby soon to somthing a bit fresher.

Ive it narrowed down to either a P1 or an sti type r v5 . spec wise they seem quite similar, however the p1 seems to be a bit more insurance friendly being a uk car.

So what is your thoughts or experiences with these too scoobys ??? ive never been in either of the two !!!

Cheers

ther was a thread on this in the general section few wks back, i remember reading it and my outcome of reading it was that the type r is more of a track car, stiffer suspension and heavy on fuel compared to the p1...

also stated that if the cars going to be used quite frequently, the p1 would be a better choice, when i get home from work ill try find that thread again for ya

i think the price you would save on buying the sti would cover your insurance any way , but i know the p1 is a future classic and will hold its money better , so i would,nt like to be in your possition
good luck

Hows it goin orbital, personally i would just make sure that whatever you go for has been mapped for uk fuel....

I read on here that the P1 uses a jdm map to get the 280ps, what isnt clear is wether or not they were all set up to run on uk fuel or if this was still based on 100 ron fuel......im no expert but id look into that before chosing what you buy. What it says on Andy forrests website kind of confirms it too

The P1 looks the nicest i think and i would say it would be a bit easier to live with day to day than an sti, just depends on what you will use it for.

good luck

Thanks for the advice so far guys ! my head is starting to hurt a bit now as there seems to be two different "camps" so to speak ! the p1 owners and the type r owners !! and they both seem to try and run each other down , so its hard to get good acurate advice without it being onesided

From what i gather , the p1 is a uk car and what you see is what you get minus the dccd.
However there is that many different versions of the type r its worrying which one to buy , and then adding to the confusion people advertising cars as sti v5s and there not really that specific model !

can t agree more with burt its gotta be mapped.....

i seen in a jap mag type r s being rolling roaded think it was in england and the weren t 280 anyway. u ll be losing bhp by the time u out are petrol in.

i think the new one s are 308 bhp and the older one are 280bhp

( wouldn t quote me on that )

personally i love my uk model

P1's came into the country as V5's before they were trimed down.

V5 is a drivers car and would be my choice, better gearing for a bit of fun and with a few tweaks they go like

There was a good one for sale on here a while back, not sure if it's still available.

Probably one of the best type-r's in the country IMO, Lot's of history with it!
Can pass on the owners number if anyone's interested.
