Default Oil

Done a favour for a mate today some electrical work at his dads place
In return he gave me 8 ltrs of castrol edge sport 0w - 40 oil

Is this suitable for use in my 1993 wrx castrol website recommends 10w - 40

Says its for high performance engines and is fully synthetic

views please folks

Cheers

Rab

I think the mobil oil i use is 0w-40 and as petedotuk says the car warms up nice and quickly, but i would maybe prefer using a thicker grade like 10w-40 or 10w-60, think the 0w-40 is a bit runny!!

Would maybe do for a few thousand miles when u get ur engine re-built sure and see how it goes

Unless you've got a fresh rebuild it may be too thin especially if your going to be giving it a good heating!
It can also find it's way out through seals and **** a lot easier.

Mix a tin of maple syrup though it and it will be fine.... ( no don't I'm only kidding)

Default mmmm

its a bit on the thin side, maybe ok to run it in the winter time when temps are nice and low but dont go using it in the summer.classic or new shape, subaru engines lets face it have been around for a while now and when they were first produced on the drawing boards ,new age oils like we have today just werent the same specs..

use it to run her in then go to 10w for safetys sake
