havin a look at ur "viewe my scooby" must say thats a nice motor.

u say u have forged pistons so u should b able 2 put a good deal of power through her no probs.
Get ur self 2 the rr day at AI and johnny would b able 2 advise better than me.
What does ur car push out standard? (I would imagine around 300 if it has been mapped 2 cope with r fuel)

Dont know much about classics though and I listen 2 a lot of hearsay.

thanks for the comments, when i had the rebuild done the guy said it should be puttin out 300bhp, i was thinkin of maybe installing the likes of apexi power fc, is it any good? it seems reasonably priced, the only downside is you dont get antilag, to get this you have to spend some serious money, motec or autronics i think! maybe i should try for more bhp, would i need a fmic if i intend to do anything

ive started a similar thread to this if u want to have a read, given that you have strengthened internals you could go for around 400bhp probably quite easy, for that roughly your gonna need a bigger turbo(lots of choices) a full ecu, bigger injectors, uprated fuel pump, fully decatted exhaust, breathing mods and a front mount intercooler.

your gear box will be the problem at that power though, def gonna need upgraded well depending on how much power and more importantly torque you want to put through it.

dont worry about the fmic unless u want the 400 r over figure, get a sti top mount from a breakers. r if u like the look of the fmic go 4 it but I hear that they can produce quite a bit of lag if not mapped properly.

How much bhp do u want?

i would def like 350bhp, but wouldnt want to go much more if it is going to compromise the gearbox, would my car not have a sti tmic as it is a sti? or is this another option from the standard intercooler on a sti?

i think the sti 8 intercooler is slightly bigger it seems 2 b that every1 who wants 2 keep tmic goes 4 the sti 8 but i'm sure some1on here could give u a definite answer. Defo keep tmic if u want 2 4 350bhp fmic wont help

Front mount looks far better for looks tho wud u nawt agree??

My mate fitted his fmic last week and he says the car is a bit more laggy down low now, but goes far better in the midrange, prob would work better if u were able to re-map or fit a new ecu at the same time and have it mapped to suit!!

feckin hell it is far better lookin than a top mount. But when I left my car 2 AI 2 get work done on it I was lookin for a figure of around 330bhp I wanted a FMIC but was advised that it would not benefit 1 bit and unless I want the 400bhp figure stick with the STI tmic.

Like I said if he likes the looks go 4 it but if he wants 2 spend his money on actuall hp gains buy a bigger turbo 4 nearly the same price...(depending on make of FMIC)
